JK was making a loud rattle around 2K rpm. Finally got tired of it and researched the fix. All is well with a few pipe-clamps!

Also, here's a fun flex shot from this past weekend's Windrock trip

Had a rear caliper seize up on me a few weeks ago. Nursed it until last weekend when it became too much to bear. The jeep wouldn't move unless I gave it some foot. New caliper fixed the problem completely. Did a full rear-end brake job while I was at it. MPG is up to 18.6 ave from 17. Amazing how that works.

Decided to take care of the steering clunk in the JK. It was easier than I thought and got rid of the clunk. I've heard it can come back so disassembled the entire unit to really pack grease in there. Upon reassembling, I noticed one of the TREs was going out so replaced that as well. Jeep is driving and steering perfectly. I call that a win.

Really like the 'look' of your JKU with the 265/70r17 with small lift and wheel spacers. Nice stance. Thinking of doing something similar.... leveling kit and 265's. Love the thought of 285/70's but worried about gas mileage/power loss. Anyway, if you have anymore photos from other angles that'd be great!

New Tire Day:

315/70/17 Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts installed today. Got a killer deal and I'm really looking forward to seeing how these tires do. I'm running a RC 2.5" BB lift with RC 1.5" spacers.

Also took the opportunity to grab a good picture of my front end setup if anyone was interested.

Flex Test:

Okay, so in this photo I'm running 2.5" RC BB lift with 1.5" RC wheel spacers and 315/70/17 Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts. With stock fenders they do not fit. You must trim the rubi rails and pinch seam in the rear, and you will need minimum 2" extended bumpstops in the front.

After performing this test I picked up some Teraflex 2" upper bumpstop extensions from a local shop to make things place nicely once again. It looks like I'll be okay for the most part, but the front tires still rub the front bumper ever-so-slightly when fully compressed. I plan on replacing the front bumper at some point so I'll let it ride for now.

Just remember to trim your rear pinch weld seam and rubi rails if you have them or you'll have a nice strip of tire missing.

Thank you, sir! She's slowly but surely getting there - one expensive piece at a time.

A little update...

Installed some Daystar hood latches to keep the hood fluttering at bay. They came in handy this past weekend. We did a 700+ mile trip with a loaded 6x10 trailer to help a friend move back to town. The Jeep was very-much underpowered but did the entire trip without any issues. I even managed 12mpg!

I'm still struggling with some steering/tire issues. After a long day in the shop last Thursday I've learned that the front axle is slightly bent causing negative camber past max tolerance, the custom tie-rod wont align correctly, and 3/4 of my tires wont balance correctly. The life of a Jeep owner...

More to come!
