Sorry! There is alot of banter in here but I really enjoy it. I have begun regularly updating my first page so you can easily find the important stuff.

Chemical. My degree is technically chemical and biological engineering, but I dont play in the bio world.

Concentration: polymers and more specifically adhesives

Well, the jeep is about to be pulled into the garage of the shop. Todd suspects that my little birdy might be the CV joint in my front driveshaft. Super nervous- I hope they can have it fixed this evening, but I am not optimistic.

Good news is, I have been playing with rainbow colored electrical tape color coding the entire freakin' plant... so my work day hasn't been too stressful.

Sounds like a bunch of angry birds chirpin? If so I'll bet its the driveshaft as well. They should be able to knock it out quick if so.

Yep. They are taking it out so I can drive in a legal vehicle to work, while they replace some sort of ball joint and 2 u-joints. Then they will put it back in later in the week. Quoted me shy of $200. I havent been next to a computer all day so I havent had the chance to do any research.

For a rebuilt shaft thats not too bad, I think I paid $165 by bringing mine in. Had it back the next day, rebuilt and balanced. I know isn't too bad to rebuild yourself, but with Spicer u-joints and centering ball, it adds up to over $130-150 easy. So to pay a little for labor was fine by me, plus I knew I'd prob at least f up one u-joint doing it, so I took the easy way out.

Thats what I figured. I did a quick price out and it seemed reasonable

I've considered running a built front shaft, but never really gotten around to pricing one; I swore it off after realizing what I was going to have in my front axle.

Trussed and or/sleeved with better seals, chromoly shafts, CTM's at the outers, Synergy ball joints, JJ housings for the upper arms, Currie/Savvy steering with a tie rod flip and possibly a Jana K4 setup for JK gears. It'll take awhile to set that all up, but when I'm done it'll be nuke-proof for 35's. I'm sort of waiting on Imped to do the K4 setup on his rear 44, so that I can see what it's going to take to do it. He's also looking at cryo-treated gears, of which I'm a fan.
