Yea I figured it out. one of the adapter pieces is stripping thats why it wasn't working. its would start to get pressure then the piece thats stripping would release and there would be no pressure anymore. If you know what Im even talking about hahaha

That is a good idea to run the extra channel. I'll look into doing that as well, but not sure how often I'll drop the windshield on mine.

All I've ever heard folks do is cuss at/about the nutserts. Why didn't you just drill and tap the roll bar itself?

.120 isn't really thick enough to tap.

I did it because I plan on removing my winshield for wheeling. I also only drive my rig on the road a couple times a year, So my windshield will most likely stay removed most of the year.

Nutserts really aren't that hard if you know how to use them and have the correct tool to tighten them in place. I didnt want to drill and tap or use self tapper because I didnt want them stripping out or wallowing out the holes over time. I cant tell you how many times I have had to up the size of the self tappers on my stock windshield channel because they strip and wallow the hole. These will hopefully be perfect.

I grabbed another tool, so hopefully this one will work properly. Let me know when you want to trade them out. I did a bunch of them on my roll bar and it was pretty flawless.

On that note do you have a compressor I can borrow? If not Ill probably rent one. Im thinking about using a HVLP gun to paint my cage.

I ordered it on thurs and it already showed up today. that means in was on my doorstep 2 days from the order. NICE!!!

straight out of the package

I had to cut about 2" out of the middle so that it fits on my cage.

Next thing I did was tape it onto the cage and start marking where the mounting hardware will go

I picked up these little nutserts from USMCbuckwild.

So I started drilling the holes to fit the nutserts

After you get the holes drilled out to the right size, you use this nifty little tool to press the nutserts in and tighten them up. It works kind of like a rivet

Nutsert installed

I finished installing all of the nutserts and bolted the windshield channel on. Then I installed the bikini top to see how it turned out.

I think it turned out real good. Im surprised I dont see people doing this more often. When running a windshield all I have to do is loosen the bikini top straps and slide the while thing forward and mount it from the standard channel installed on the windshield frame.

Wish I would have known you needed one I would have just given you one!

Thanks again about the cage. I need to get some work done on it. Been working like 14 hr days lately though so its hard to find time.

As for the 8 lug axle. Ive talked about it a couple times in this thread. Its an Eaton HO72 axle. I dont have the time or money to do anything with it right now but ill be running it under the rear whenever I do a one ton swap.

Got a little more done on the jeep this weekend. I painted the cage and threw it back in the jeep.

First I wire wheeled the entire cage then used a HVLP gun and sprayed it with Rustoleum satin black.

To finish I still need to re-install seats and harnesses, put my toolbox in, mount my rearview mirror and do frame tie-ins.
