I'm running 18" 5125s (14" collapsed 25 full) up front. I had to check. I PM'd you a good JeepForum vendor's email for when you do the back. He's a decent amount cheaper than what you paid.

Got a couple more pics today. Took it on a little drive to Autozone. Having a welded rear is going to take a little getting used to

When i did my MML a while ago i cut into the tub and got my trans and tcase as high as i could. After that i built a crossmember and was able to bring my flat skid up a little. I think my skid now sits only about 1 1/2" below the frame and is completely flat. At 10-12 PSI my belly height is about 21" and at 25 PSI I'm at 22". Not bad belly height.

With the 1" stretch and SOA i finally need to do something with my rear brake line. I've been using the stock line with an extension bracket. The stock line is 17" long. Today i stopped at Autozone and grabbed a line for a 1990 Dodge 1500. Its 26" long. That means i can lose the extension bracket and tuck the hose right up to the frame. Then I have TONS of line for flex and more future stretch.

The d30 housing I am using is Joe Dillards old setup. The build up on this can be seen here http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f37/h...beware-795144/. That includes the U-bolt delete

Started working on my new traction bar this evening.


First thing I did was back it into the garage


After that i positioned the axle mount where i thought i wanted it and started taking some measurements. I used PVC pipe for mockup so I could limit my amount of wasted tube. I didnt get any pics of this as its hard to hold a bunch of PVC and take pics.

After i got my top bar figured out I whipped out the notcher and started working with the steel.


notcher(excuse the mess, its been a long day)




Then I tac'd the top bar in place.




After tacking the top bar in i started mocking up the bottom. Here you can see me using the PVC pipe. The idea was to make the bottom bar the same angle as my driveshaft.



Then I cut the steel and tac'd it in place as well




Tomorrow I'll get everything finish welded and painted.

Lookin good man, I'm just finishing my anti wrap bar up right now too. Trying to figure out if I want to run a bar across the frame to attach it or just connect it to the skid plate. I really wish a had a tube bender right about now haha

When i ran it on my stock skid it ripped my skid to shreds while offroading Haha. I run a custom 1/4" skid now that is reinforced and gusseted for the traction bar mount.

I also finally also ordered some 14" shocks so i can get those wfo hoops in

Nice ull love the hoops,I'd like I build a custom skid but I don't think I have the time right now. I'm probably going to run a piece of square to from one side of the frame to the other then just attach the shackle end of the bar to it. I saw when urs broke off n the way it did which is y I think I'm going to avoid the skid altogether until I have time to build a new one. Ull love the hoops once u get them in there, I do. My Antiwrap bar looks earily similar to urs haha I set it up almost the exact same way. I'm puttin 2 cross braces in it no tho just to b safe. I also have a tj front cv DS on the way, I was all set to build one from a spare xj shaft I had until I found out the 6cyl 5spd tj front shaft was the exact size I needed. Figure it'll save me a few hours of work and a couple dollars worth of tubing I would of had to buy. Got the used shaft for 65 shipped and I already have the correct yoke for it on my TC.

If you really beef up the skid it can last a little while. Or just do like your planning and make a crossmember. For my traction bar I put in one brace. It's 1.5x.250" DOM. I think one brace is sufficient.

That's a really good deal on the TJ shaft. I'm just running a singe cardon Tatton front shaft. Im also looking forward to the front hoops. Though Im not looking forward to the work of cutting off the stock mounts and welding up the new ones. For once I just wish I could bolt something up and be done

Ok guys I finished up my traction bar today. All I had to do was finish weld everthing and get it painted. Piece of cake.

Once I finished up with that I cleaned the whole garage again and took a shower. Not 5 minutes after taking a shower a friend showed up and wanted me to help him change his tie rod and drag link on his '07 JK. So back to getting dirty....

Looks very nice and sleek. I want to go SOA in the future as I already have the steering setup. I just need to take care of these kind of details.

To PAYJ19, I ignored all the advice to mount that bar solid. It cost me 2 driveshaft repairs and 180 trip home with FWD locked. Count me in as a vote to strengthen the skid plate, build a brace or do like I did and do both.

To Vegas, did you clean the overspray off that shock?

funny thing is thats not overspray. They're just some crappy white shocks that i randomly sprayed black spots on, now they look like a cow. thats what happens when you get bored

So 2 months ago after my last wheeling trip I posted some things that I was contemplating doing.

Lets see if they were accomplished. This is copy/pasted straight from that post.

"So my build list that Im contemplating doing is

-Regear 8.8~~4.56 gears installed
-lock 8.8~~Welded
-regear and install Joe Dillards old Trussed Vac delete D30~~4.56 geared, old locker and all D30 internals installed
-stretch rear 2-3"~~only did a 1" stretch for now
-dimple gas tank~~still need to do
-cut all brackets off 8.8 and re-set pinion, shocks, traction bar ect~~done, installed all new ruffstuff perches, shock mounts and traction bar mounts
-build new traction bar~~Done
-Flat skid~~skid is completely flat. A little over 1-1.5" below frame. As high as i can go with no BL
-Cut into trans tunnel and weld in new sheet metal~~done
-1" brown dog MML~~done
-install new TC output yoke~~new front and rear installed
-hope my rear driveshaft will fit with the stretch~~built a new one "

Came home from work at about 1AM this morning and had a package wating for me. My Bilstein shocks showed up.

These shocks should finally stop limiting my uptravel and droop on the front of my rig. I've been running some 10" travel bilstein 5100's. They were way too short once i did the SOA and 3" front stretch. But you work with what you got right?

Extended 14" 5125 vs extended 10" 5100



~5125 is 35" extended and 20.75 collapsed
~5100 is approximately 25" extended and 15" collapsed

Will work on install at a later date. I go out of town for a week on monday for work and then head home for a bit for the holidays.
