Not to be picky, but the top gusset on your traction bar mount should be longer. It should run over the top of the cross member bar, not butt against it. As it sits, all the pressure is applied to the top and bottom welds. If that top gusset extended over the top of the bar it would tie in more ofthe bar's circumference and dissipate more of the load across the face of the bar.

Long story short, should have overlapped the top to make it stronger. Its still awesome the way it is, just don't want to see you reweld it in 3 months.

I see what you're saying. To be completely honest i didnt even think about that at the time. Maybe the next time i drop the skid I'll add another piece that extends like what you're talking about. it have it actually bend around the tube

In other new, Buck gave me a new bikini top yesterday. Its heavy duty so it doesnt flap in the wind and it also extends all the way to the rear. I dont have rear passengers but i destroyed a stereo with my last bikini top in a huge thunderstorm. I had the one that only goes to the B pillar and the water was running off the back and shooting straight into my dash while driving. There was absolutely nothing i could do about it. This one should work a lot better.

And now the obligatory pic

It doesn't really have to "wrap" around, but just going over the top will make it ALOT sturdier. Even drilling a couple 1/2" holes into a piece of steel the same width and applying it over the top of the already welded in brace. Then just weld around the edges and the insides of the holes. Makes it even mo stronga!

That top does look pretty awesome! Just get some of the spray on waterproofing for sneakers and boots and hose that top down. It will help keep the rain and moisture out

Very nice. It reminds me of my new Softopper. You can take off the back, doors, and side windows and that's pretty much what you get.

That top is about 2-2 1/2" thick. it has layers of foam and batting inside with cut-outs for the roll bar and extra straps to hold it down. It's heavy, weighs around 15lbs, and doesn't flap around, is pretty quiet and the insulation helps keep heat from radiating down (or out during the winter)

I really liked it, but I have a sport bar and it wouldn't work without a family bar.

Sorry to hear about your stereo man! I know that I have had to hang my sunglasses off of the bikini top footman loop strap in the middle, so that the water ran off of the sunglasses instead of running up and spattering all over the inside of the windshield On a long drive in the rain with no doors, you have plenty of time to play with hydraulics...

Bikini top looks killer.

Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."
