Jesse's Jeep * TJ build
My name is Jesse and I'm a senior in high school. I've wanted a Jeep since I first rode in a buddies XJ years ago. Once I got my license I was given my moms 2005 Ford Escape to drive which was a great car... for groceries, not playing. After going through a couple years of living on pennswoods, craigslist, autotrader, cars, yahoo autos, you name it and I've looked there for a Jeep. Finally after a couple issues with the Escape at 172k miles, my parents decided its time to send her on her way. They knew the only way I would drive another vehicle is if it was a TJ or XJ and since I wanted a standard so bad I figured a TJ was what I needed. I'll be moving from here at the "weather capital of the world" in Punxsutawney to Kissimmee, FL in July for MMI. Which means I need a reliable Jeep. We spent a couple months of hard searching and looking at a few Jeeps, and finally after another thing broke on the Escape, we spent the whole day calling dealers and finding my new baby. Ended up driving 150+ miles one way to look at one that didn't turn out and on the way back, a local guy returned our call and thats when we found this pearl. 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0 5sp with 107k on the odo. immaculate hard and soft top along with it.

Yes I'm only 17 and no I didn't pay for it myself. My parents are the greatest people I know and give me more things than I probably deserve, I appreciate what they have given me so don't start bashing me with the "daddy bought his kid a jeep". I work my butt off and know what its like to earn something, this is just one of the things that they really wanted to help me out with.
The first thing I did was plasti dip the headlight bezels and replace a fuse to the cigarette lighter so I could charge my phone. Went to a buddies house yesterday and put a ratchet locker in his 87 Toyota Pickup.
(yes my bezels are out in the pictures. they were drying)
Short term build plans *in no order
1. LED gauge lights
2. mount cb and antennae
3. 2" BB lift (shocks?)
4. quick disco's or currie antirock (broke my links already)
5. more aggressive ATs (the highway rubber isnt gonna cut it)
6. install head unit
7. remove side steps
8. install sub
9. skid plates (steering box and?)
10. drive it.
Long term build plans
1. 3-4 inch lift MAX
2. tummy tuck
3. tube fenders
4. rocker armor
5. build stinger to protect grill from flying deer
basically a LCOG trail rig that will go where ever I point the tires
1. UV LEDs for the gauges and heater lights (velds.com) - $10
2. Amber LED for high beam indicator
3. radio receiver mount (crutchfield.com) - $10
4. receiver wire harness - $10

got some work done this weekend..
new bosch o2 sensor to get rid of CEL
put in my old pioneer head unit
replaced incandescent dash lights with USELESS UV LEDs. these things suck :thumbdown: should have bought the better ones with more power
bought cb antenna and decided to mount my cb on the back of the center console because its so massive. didnt get time to do it yet but I should this weekend
also removed the running boards. I think it looks alot better
then I got the bright idea to break out the plasti dip. threw on some 3m masking tape and started spraying, event doing it at 4 in the morning I think it turned out pretty good!

Little advice: dont do the 2''BB, just save money and go for a spring lift. (made that mistake)

yeah I recently discovered how budget friendly a RC 2.5 inch lift is, I don't know if there upgraded shocks are worth it or not, but it's worth a try for $270. I'll need to get some small spacers for the front though I think. I hate the saggy stance

Nice upgrades so far. What do you mean by UV lights for the dash. Is that a brand name?
thats what I did! ha my internet at home is just so slow, it takes a loooong time to upload then get the link then load them on here, yada yada yada
anyways I got my LEDs from http://vleds.com and they are "blacklight UV" which is a purple color. the ones that i bought only have 1 little "bulb" if you will, instead of the ones with 9 or so. I broke the piece that holds the bulb in so the middle LED doesn't light
threw my cb antenna on today. used the hole that was in the spare tire mount.
it's a 3 foot fiberglass whip antenna from Napa, nothing special
and snapped a picture after washing it off the other day
thanks! I'm really just waiting for someone to buy my klx110 so I can get the lift ordered. I'm pretty set on a RC 2.5" spring with the 2.2 shocks. I have been driving it since day one or two with the sway bar links broke, should I get new ones for the lift? It doesn't bother me how it drives now but I am assuming with the taller springs it will have a little more swaayyy.
I keep seeing people that just throw on the springs and shocks and run them like that, at least for a little while. Then I hear that not bump stopping is a sin. And I'll have to get a MML to keep vibes down? Can I just try the lift and run it to see if I'll need anything else? Basically what I wanna know is what all am I going to have to buy with it?
hopefully if the 110 goes for enough, I'll be calling A to Z for some sliders. My father WILL NOT let me drill into the tub, so are there any other companies that have frame mount sliders? I would like to see more options before I disregard his thoughts and do it anyways.
