I gotta say, driving the Jeep in fwd is a bit strange. Hopefully I'll get ahold of some u-joints soon.

New u-joints are supposed to be here today. Hopefully I find time to change them this weekend.

This is not cool! So you get to drive a Ford Focus on steroids all weekend? Ugh!

I'm sure glad I didn't have to deal with this factory u-joint on the trail. What a pita.

I at least gave it a shot. I got a torch and melted a bunch of crap out of the caps, but the caps won't budge. These are the worst u-joints I've ever worked on. I guess I'll just have to wait for my buddy to press them out and put the new ones in. Easier for me to let some one else do it I guess...lol.

Look into an OMC ball joint press. I think I got mine new for 130.00. The thing works great for swapping u joints and if you put the C into a vise, it's much easier to work with.

I want to get some Spicer u-joints, but paying 20 bucks in shipping for 40 bucks in parts ain't happening.....I guess I'll keep looking.

Edit: Got 'em off Amazon, should have just looked there first. lol.

Hopefully I'll be back in 4wd by the weekend.

I still have to find someone to press the old joints out.....and I'll probably have them press the new ones in while they're at it, I'll do the hammer/socket thing if I have too someday.

Haha OK good stuff. Actually just bought a new front track bar from them and it'll be here tomorrow so really only a one day turnaround. They are literally the only company I've ever ordered from that could get me stuff earlier than the estimate.

I'm one step closer to getting my Jeep back to 4wd mode. A buddy brought me knew u-joints last night, but then he decided to take them and the drive shaft with him to switch them out for me.....maybe that's two steps closer.

My buddy returned my rear drive shaft tonight, all cleaned up with shiny new Spicer u-joints installed! I got it back on the Jeep in just a few minutes, took it for a test drive and the squeak is gone!

If you still have stock u-joints in your Rubi shafts, switch them out before they break on the trail.

Today I did my 5 tire rotation, using my Craftsman impact wrench that my wife gave me for Christmas...it isn't good for much, but it sure sped up the time it took to do the rotation.

I also changed my oil, at 58,010 miles, which means I went 3,032 miles between oil changes. I used the same oil and filter brands as last time. The Duratrac's went on at 47,400 miles, so I now have 10,610 miles on them (In 13 months), and they're holding up pretty damn good.

I took one of the daughters to Rockford today and on the way there we ran into a traffic jam on the interstate...which started 3 miles from the point where the road construction causing the jam started. Only being a few miles north of a cross road, I cut through the median and did a u-turn...my daughter just laughed and laughed. It wasn't posted no u-turn.

I should remind myself that my rear u-joints were changed right around 58,000 miles as well.
