Well I think it was finally time to start a build tread over here on JF.

I started with this pile of heep.
It was pretty much stripped down, had a bent frame. I bought it for the tub and title.

And my plans for this build are the following

Drive Train
-3.9 Cummins 4bt Turbo Diesel
*cut down 6bt exhaust manifold
*cut down 6bt intake plate w/ air horn
*he341 turbo
-NV4500 trans
-Atlas II (3.0)
-1979 Ford HP D60 (ARB, Factory Ten Chromoly's, 4.56, Artec Trust, Ried Racing Knuckles)
-1985 14b (ARB, 4.56, shaved to 13b, Artec Trust)
-40" Goodyear MTR Old School (1st set)
-ORI Struts (14")

Armor
-TnT hi-line zeros
-Custom made boat sides
-Custom made phantom hi-line front fenders.

Interior
-Custom Roll cage w/ integrated dash
-Corbeau Baja Ultra SS seats
-Custom Tool box in the rear
-Fuel cell behind the seats.

Specs
-105-106" Wheelbase
-5" rear stretch
-7"ish front stretch
-22" at skid plate
-5.5" up travel
-8.5" down travel
-Not sure the total amount of lift over stock, but should be around 4-5"

I have collected most of the parts for the build, and over my college winter break I got started on the build

Build starts here
For the 14b I went and got UCF 13b shaved cover.
I put the cover on, marked the cut and went at it

Cleaned it up with a flapper wheel, and bolted the stock cover on, so I could see the clearance gained. (1.25")

I knew I was going to need to do a 1" body lift, so instead of doing pucks, I went with Gen Rights body mount lift.

Old

New

Then my friend cut off the back half

I went with the atx back half kit the second go around. I first tried it will using 2x3 tubing coming off the frame, but I was not happy with the angles I got.

I plan on doing something different in the rear, out side of the tub. But for now it looks like this.

Then on the front half of the frame I made some cuts and got rid of the drop down section.
I left the tubes 9" long cause I might have to stretch it a few inch from factory so I can fit a winch up from.
*BEFORE

*AFTER

When I did this I made an L cut, cause I was stepping down from 2.5" to 2", and it worked great.

Well I got to work on pulling the engine.
I chopped up the grill a little, there was no way I was going to pull it out the side door like they say to do.

God was it greasy

Half a gallon of de-greaser and a power washer, cleaned it up pretty good.

Trying to get ready for Moab,

Here is the list to be done by sunday night.

Jeffro this one is for you!!!!
I got the boat sides started. I still need nutsets in a few areas, and then I need to add two bolts that hold it in from the bottom. After moab I plan to weld a plat up front to help give it more support at the front fender.

Of coarse it looks good. I am a Damn perfectionist lol

Looks great...your going to be a busy man.
Tell me about it. Spend 19hrs out there today and only crossed off like 5 things. Boat sides and cowl should be the hardest items. So I hope its down hill here on out.

Man I love this jeep. On a side note you've inspired me to get a whiteboard in the garage.
Thanks. I love my jeep too. LOL JK
The whiteboard is a must for a build like this. I have a bunch of notes all over it.

So after I messed with the boat sides. I moved on to the cowl skins.
From start to finish I have about 5 hrs invested in make a pair.
First stated with a paper template.

Then I felt like I was in art class shading (finding the out line so I can jut that out.)

Took the template and drew it up in cad

Then I went to the table and cut it out.

Then I clamped them on for now. Tomorrow I will drill out all the holes.

I got the tire carrier brackets painted and installed. I did cut out the licenses plate bracket and light mount. I am going to weld that on tomorrow and paint the tire carrier.

You forgot build rear frame crossmember (insert pirate double flip smiley here!)

Jeep is lookin sweet man

Is there some specs posted in the thread about it? I was just curious of overall wheelbase. How much front and rear stretch it ended up with frame height and windshield height. I'm getting a new rig soon with some big round rubber things on it and want to take some comparing measurements

BRay said his lift is in, but he's not sure it'll be on before next Saturday. His JK is like brand new so the swap should be as easy as it could possibly be, since none of the bolts have seen salt. I think we can, I think we can.

You two have some work to do.

Today wansn't as productive as I would have liked.
But I did gradumacate today :D

On to the jeep s***
Welded the license plate mount and light on. Now I should be "legal"

Worked on the tail gate for a few hours.

Had the local shop bend a 36 degree bend in it.

Cut out the holes for the latches.

Enjoy your two weeks of freedom.

No such thing as 9/16 hitch pins. So i made some

License plate

Heres a trick to remove the stripped torx head. (if you guys forgot you can do this)

Take a nut place it over the bolt

Crank up the welder and fill her in

Take a wrench and turn

Comes out easy as pie
