Last night I worked on my "neighbor of the year award" some more. After delivering a Dana 30 and tube fenders, I decided to go work in the garage from 10pm to 12am. It's a cement block garage so it's pretty sound resistant. I'm moving next year anyway, and my neighbors are cool.
Passenger side is smooth. Driver side is nearly smooth. Needs a flap wheel. Was going to work more today but ended up doing electric work for 12 hours with the soon to be father in law.
Apologize for not having any vehicle updates but today I scored what I think is a really good deal.
JD model 3 Tube Bender
Tube Bender Base
1.75" Tube Die
HF tube roller
Tube Roller Base
$450 off of craigs list. The tools were used to build a cage for a side by side. He listed it all today, a buddy of mine saw it, and sent me the info. My buddy has the same bender. Currently he lives about 2 miles away but since I'm moving 75 miles away bending tube in the future will be a requirement... Picked it up at 9pm christmas night.
I really need to start using a digital camera, but this was just easier.
So other things have been more important lately than the jeep but I did get a little work done tonight, not much but I was out there for a little over 2 hours. Trying to get the house ready to sell and we've been out of town visiting family.
I assembled my new 20 ton HF press
Removed the rear bumper
unbolted the body from the frame in preparation for the new frame mounts which raise the body an inch over stock
repositioned the rear jack stands in preparation for cutting the rear frame hopefully this weekend.
I also worked on stripping the 14 bolt for nearly an hour. In the past I tried an air impact and an old corded impact with no luck. Today I used my Christmas Present which was a Dewalt 18 Volt impact. It's awesome. So far 15 of the previous 18 bolts that hold the full float axles in place are out. I worked on the last three for probably 30-40 minutes with no luck. Again, I'm glad I have a Concrete block garage which keeps most of the noise in.
Anyway tomorrow we're going to Columbus, IN to look at houses again. One for the second time. The one we're looking at again is on 1.3 acres, has a 2 car attached garage, and a 25x70 pole barn which is split up into a concrete workshop and the rest is gravel space. It has plenty of room for everything and possibly a Deuce and a Half 6x6 down the road. I don't need one, but I want one just because. I plan on spending saturday and Sunday getting some stuff hammered out in the garage on the jeep.
Here's a pic of the press. It's a crappy cell phone pic but I have a bad tendency of misplacing my digital camera.
Also here's a pic from us traveling home Monday on I75 North in the snow. Yes that guy is wearing flip flops and a T shirt. We were stopped for about 2 and a half hours.
Didn't get enough done this weekend like I had wanted to.
5 of the genright body mounts are on and I stripped half of the 14 bolt down. I still have 2 bolts still seized on the passenger side holding the shaft in. I need to try more heat. I also cracked a socket trying to get out the bolts out.
