Out with the old, in with the new...
Also bolted the steering linkage back up. Then I realized I was going to have to take it all apart to put new bolts on for the track bar. Then tires and It should be ready for the weekend.
Things I liked about his...
4:1 Stak Dana 300 TC
air shocks up front
and his steers much better. We both have a PSC box, but I think I still have air in the line.
For the little time I drove it (small rock section) it did much better than mine. Overall the same line was much smoother in his vs mine. I really liked the 4:1 the best.
ordered some rear disc brake brackets today. I'm going to use Elderado calipers with the built in E brake.
I found a 14 bolt 44 combo on the local craigs list. To get the 14 bolt rear I have to get the 44 front too. It's a good price and i'm going to have the front axle for sale. That and I should be able to use the front rotors on the rear for teh disc brake conversion. Hopefully I will be able to sell the front axle for more than I will be paying for it which would make my rear axle FREE or maybe $50.
Also ordered one of these. By the time it takes to ship (haha), I should be ready to start working on it.
edit: and as to be expected...

After going to 5 Salvage yards today, I found the 14 bolt rear axle that I was looking for. I found several of them, but not the year range wanted. Finally found one out of a '79 K20 truck. I'm picking it up tomorrow morning. I could have probably gotten one from craigslist cheaper, but after the last one fell through I got tired of searching because the closest one I could find was around 70 miles away. Heck, and they are pulling it out of the truck so I don't have to do that.
I did know the ballistic thing going in. Basically I'm going to put the truss, suspension, and probably do the gears before it gets here. I'm wanting to build the axles before I put them under the jeep.
Plans as of right now...
back half the frame probably with the ATX kit
Air Shocks or Coilovers front and rear... depends on money (16 front 14 rear) with a cut hood
redo the front frame
move the steering box forward, not sure what I will do with the anti rock. In doing this, I'm going to probably tilt the bottom of the grill out an inch or two.
1" body lift again, but I'm going to use the Genright body mounts in the center so I won't actually have pucks
and what ever else I can think of.
