Was going from the 8.25 to an 8.8 worth the effort? I'm guessing it came with 4.10s?

Were you at Rausch the 19th? I saw at least 2 red XJs there.

Its the best upgrade i did to my Jeep!!!! defiantly way more stronger then the 8.25, there are 800 hp mustangs drag racing with these rears and launching them very hard. My 8.8 came with 4.10 gears and a limited slip differential.

Where did you acquire your near axle? Did you have to cut it down to fit in on?

I acquired the rear axle from my best buddy asjamison. (the one with the killer mj) I believe he found it on craigslist, also the axle does not require the tubes to be shortened. Thanks for the compliment, mine is slowly getting beat up though from thrashing it around.

Give it time most likely Ill flip it eventually!!!!! If i do flip it before i make a cage I will cut the roof off and build a hole exo-cage hahahhahaha!!!!!! As for the subframe connectors they where a peace of cake. I had to do some trim work to get them to fit sung to the unibody rails. I used 2 tubes of panel bond from 3m (its as strong as welding) then i welding all the plug welds and grinned it smooth, also i used a heavy body seam sealer around the tie ins and under coated it. Il snap a few pics tonight and show you all.

Did you have to get a new proportioning valve or master cylinder when you swapped in the 8.8? I'm in the process of building my 8.8 w/discs and I've heard mixed reviews about this.

Also, my rotors are straight and uniform thickness, but they are surface rusted like yours. Should I get them turned or will the rust wear off at the first run of the brakes?

i helped him with the build, we didnt do anything special with the brakes, just hook up the lines and bleed them. i've swapped 8.8s into 4 or 5 different jeeps and none of them required any type of prop valve or MC upgrade
