Jeep CJ dash swap into my YJ! Help!

Alright guys, i recently swapped a cj dash into my jeep yj to replace the nasty looking stock one. All works great except a few things Ive run the original wiring from the yj dash to the new one and hooked everything up correspondingly. Heres the problems. My gas guage is always reading full, and my temp guage reads nothing! ive even run a straight wire from the temp sender to the guage w/power but it reads nothing, until i ground that sending wire, then it pings the guage. Is there a difference in Ohms from the yj to cj sending units? My engine is the 258 I6 with the 2bb Weber carb. I know CJ's also had a similar setup, and if im to be correct, the same heads? Is the temp sending unit different? or is there a form of resistor that should be in the circuit?

Any help greatly appreciated!! Thank you guys!
