Jeep Build Thread..........kinda
This isn't the type Jeep build you would typically find on here, but I figured I'd share it with you guys.
![]() This is a 1951 Willys 2wd pickup we are building for a customer. The truck spent a lot of time in the barnyard before we got it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Got the mounts and cross member for the front suspension welded up. ![]() ![]()

Chrysler 440 big block sitting between the frame rails. Once the engine has been built it will be a shade over 500c.i.
![]() ![]() Had to move the firewall back a few inches to make it fit. ![]() ![]() |

Bed sitting on the frame with fender mounted.
![]() ![]() I had a heck of a time coming up with wheels for the front that kept the tires under the fender. I ended up having Halibrand machine me an extra 1/4" of backspacing out of their 15"x6" spokes. Then I had them drop ship them to Weldcraft Wheels to have them narrowed to 4.5". The tires are 24"x5" Mickey Thompson S/Rs. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks like you've got some good fab skills.
Not really my style of build............but nice work nonetheless. Be sure and post some pics of the finished product. |

Got the Dana 60 assembled with a Detroit and 4.10s. Just waiting on the axles from Moser.
![]() Custom made gauge bezel. The factory gauges on the bottom will be send of to be rebuilt and converted to 12v. The face will also be matched to the Auto Meters. ![]() Here's a shot of the inside so far. I got the under dash clutch and brake master cylinders mounted. You can also see the Tremec TKO-600 through the hole in the floorboard. ![]() Got the headers made up and the custom made radiator installed to the grille shell. ![]() |

Here's a couple with the fenders bolted on. This is all of the progress so far. I'll try and keep it up to date.
Wow, I just noticed I've broken the 50 post mark. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That is a beautiful looking Jeep already. Do you have an estimated cost for the customer yet?

I'd prefer not to disclose the money our customers get wrapped up into their vehicles. I can say that a lot of things on this jeep are custom built which takes a lot of time and labor. You can't just order up a set of big block headers for a 1951 Willy's.
