How do you like the smitty corners? I'm in the market for corner armor, and I don't see the point in dropping the coin on Rokmen or Savvy when at the end of the day its just metal wrapped around the corner...

They are fine. They fit well and like you said its just metal wrapped around. I also found them on CL super cheap, so that made the decision even easier. If I stretch in the future I'll prob go Savvy blanks, but these def work.

Only thing I would suggest tho, is strip the crap powder coat off and finish them yourself... Their powder coat is pretty bad and its chipping off in multiple spots. I was just too lazy to do it initially but will pull them off at some point and refinish them.

I've heard that about the smitty's - do you park outside? I wonder if mine have stayed excellent since she's a garage queen? I can tell you my last set was a PAIN to get installed. One of them was bent too far out and had to clamp it down to mount, the other was bent too far in.

Yea, it stays outside year round. It probably doesn't help that I scrape them on rocks and tress often so I'm sure thats helping the chipping of the podwer coat. And its really not that bad yet, a bunch of small spots here and there, mostly along the edges as PC doesn't like to stick to sharp corners anyway.

I want to weld on the flares sometime, so when I do that I will strip them down and paint them real good myself.

Also I do think I remember one being a little bent out, but it was easy enough to clamp it into position.

Sames. Mine were literally perfect until a couple of weeks ago when I was pulling off a hardtop, alone, and dropped it, scratching both sides. I was pissed! It would be cool bouncing them off a tree, but a hardtop - that's totally softcore.

One of my next few purchases will be the Genright high flares and Ill do the weld thing as well - then color match I think.

Was asking $700, settled for $650, no key, as I didn't want to give a copy of my rigs key and I kept the mirrors. I'm happy.

At minimum I need front lower control arms, they are beat pretty good, but I may just go with the rest of the CA's and finish it off. And will stick with Metal Cloak since I already have the rear uppers.

If I had a welder at my disposal I think I may get a cage but I will wait til my Jeep fund grows a bit more for that...

A welder has been my best purchase for the Jeep so far. Check out your Craigslist often, there are some great deals for some nice Migs. Miller, Lincoln, Hobart are all good. I run a Hobart 190 that I got for a little less then half price off of Craigslist. I love my little Hobart but those Millers are though.

Oh yea, I'll definitely pick one up, but the house/apt I live in now is now condusive to welding. I can get access to a couple but its not as easy as walking out my door and doing a project when I want.

When I buy a house (within the year) I'll get one of my own and I know I'll put it to use!
