Hmm... I'll have to tighten them tomorrow then.

Yeah man loosing them up alittle and bounce up and down on the corner's a few times and then retighten, I've heard that it will cause bushing in the shocks to fail quicker as well, don't worry about the front to much, just the rears

Well, I loosened the rear shocks, bounced the corners and re tightened the shocks. It does ride less bouncy in the rear, it rides great!

Ok, made a video of post-lift. It's stupid, yes, cheesy, yes, childish, yes, but none the less, it makes me happy. Enjoy!

Hi everyone new member here.

I live right down from you in Prosper and work in McKinney. I drive past that Home Depot everyday. I have a 2000 WJ Limited (gold color) 4.7L V8 Overland Selec-Trac with about 151,000 miles that I'm thinking about putting on a lift. Your thread has inspired me to try and do it myself instead of paying someone. It looks like fun. I would like to fit 32" tires if possible with the OME 3" lift.

I just had to buy a new tire due to a sidewall puncture and its on the rear driver side. Is it bad to run one new tire on the back when the rest are noticeably smaller due to wear? The other 3 are over halfway worn.

I didn't want to buy an whole set if I'm going to do a lift and larger tires in the near future.

Welcome! As far as your tires, I don't think it matters much with the selec-trac system but I'd try to get them as even as possible just to be sure.
Good to see another grand owner from the same area, check out the 3rd link in my signature, it's a thread with a lot of grand owners in the same area. Also check the 1st and 2nd links in my sig for a lot of priceless info on the WJ.
As I said before, installing the lift was surprisingly easy, it just takes time and patience with some of the components. I like working on my WJ rather than paying someone else to do it, specially for a lift.

Thanks! I've already checked out the 1st and 2nd links and will be sure to check out the 3rd. I'll post some pictures when I get my lift kit and decide to install it. Thanks again for all the pictures and explanations. I'll send you an IM if I have any more questions.

Yeah, the heat was tough, we probably drank about a gallon of water each. It was worth it. Can't wait for the temps to cool down to wheel with you guys

Your WJ looks great! What is the MOOG SS you put on? Is that a steering stabilizer?

Do you have to install new extended swing arms like you did with the ones off amazon? What advantage do they give over stock?

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to all this stuff, but you have to start somewhere.

Thanks!
Yes, it's the Moog super trail boss steering stabilizer.
What do you mean extended swing arms? Do you mean the lower control arm? If that's what you are talking about, you typically need extended control arms when you go taller than 4". They give you more stability at higher lifts.

Sorry if I was confusing. On Ablaydes build he bought and installed Zone 3" sway links. I was curious it that was neccessary and if not what advantage they would offer? My WJ already has the factory towing package and UpCountry package but the springs have sagged. I think I measured the front and back center of the wheel to the fender at 18.5". I would like to fit some 32" BFG KM2's just like Ablaydes did.

Your stock sway bar links are made For the stock ride height of your WJ when you lift it the sway links become over extended and put a lot of tension on the bushings,And also pulls the sway bar down so it's not in it's original position anymore, the extended sway links just releive the added stress and puts the sway bar as close to stock geometry possible, considering you can buy a whole set for $50-$60 bucks off eBay or Amazon, I wouldnt see why somebody wouldn't replace them when lifting for that price
