Inca Gold Rubi

I've had a couple of questions about my Jeep, so it's time to do a write up. I've only had the Jeep about 6 months, but I got the upgrade bug bad...

I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

I did a little research and decided I wanted a Rubicon to save myself on upgrades later. I looked around for a while until I found an Inca Gold Rubicon with the automatic trans. I bought it around the first of July with 51,000 miles on it.

Mods to date:
Rugged Ridge Modular XHD bumper with black hoop. (I may get the stinger. I haven't decided yet.)
Superwinch EPi9.0
High Rock rear bumper
Olympic 4x4 Xtreme Duty Tire Carrier
and a few random things like grab handles, floor mats, CB and antenna

I drove it that way for a few months and then I added:

Metalcloak Overline tube fenders with 6" flares front and rear (powder coated)
Genright LED turnsignal and marker light kit, plus the LED flasher unit
35x12.5 Goodyear Wrangler MTR w/ Kevlar on
15 x 10 Mickey Thompson Signature Series Classic II Wheels

Now for a few pics. I took the Jeep to the Cliffs offroad park about a week after I bought it. I was still figuring out the button for the lockers. I had a good time and learned a few things about my little Jeep.

Poor stock H3 on street tires was having a bad day...

I could tell right away I was going to need a winch, so I did my first round of upgrades.

Then I decided I wanted bigger tires, but I wanted to keep the Jeep low. I looked at a few different tube fender companies before I decided I liked Metalcloak. I just about had myself talked into the arched fenders when they came out with the Overline fenders. I liked these more so I placed my order and started my next round of upgrades.

More shots at the Cliffs. Illinois isn't known for rock crawling unfortunetly, but we have lots of mud...

And a few poser shots

I ordered the rear fender flares with the cut-out rear for tire clearance. I installed the fenders without cutting because I wanted to see how much of a difference it would make.

I flexed the suspension pretty good and the tires rubbed, so the fenders came back off so I could trim the tub. I don't have any pics after the trim.

As for future mods, I'm pretty sure I want to do a tummy tuck. I'm still working out the details on that, so it'll probably be spring before I do that upgrade.

Any and all comments are welcome. I know we all have our own idea of what a Jeep should be, which is why I like these forums. Lots of different ideas.

Its looking good, I really like the fenders. This must be a rare Jeep, there weren't a lot of Inca Gold Jeeps, and I'm sure even less Rubicons. I don't think I have ever seen one anyway.

So just want to make sure I understand....you're running the stock Rubicon suspension with tube fenders and 35s? That's pretty cool, low COG!

I also love that color, very cool and unique.

It looks really good... I would look into getting spacers for the front though. You have quite a big rake. I love the color, but it looks best when Shined some (think about washing ever week, or every other week).

With all that mud you should look into lining your tub with a bed liner. I have a link to mine, from seats in, to putting it all back together in my sig. If you get the raptor, look into getting the tintable version, then you could match it up, and do those fenders.

For that bellyup, just wait for Savvy to release theirs. It should be out pretty soon, and it will be much lighter and stronger than any other. I am promised that it will be cost effective, and it will come with the BL needed to run it (don't fear a small bl). The only thin you will need to do is get an sye/ds and new rear adjustable control arms.

Looking good there. ood Luck with your jeep. That one like mentioned above is a pretty rare combo.

Man I don't normally comment on these things, but your rig is absolutely amazing. Tummy tuck that stuff and be done. Geez that makes me want to take my lift off and start over. I have already been thinking about this, but you may have just totally convinced me.

Now that's the right way to start Jeepin'!

I like your build, keep up the good work.

edit: and I'd suggest Rokmen for all your TT and skidplating needs.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I forgot to mention, the last time I was out wheeling I broke the swaybar link on the drivers side. I orded the RE Gen2 swaybar disconnects and they arrived on Monday. I will hopefully get those installed this weekend.

yeah, what were those H3's thinking, following a Rubi onto the trails like that?? were they on their Iphones and blackberrys the whole time?? I'm guessing their camera's didn't come out for this ride??

Sorry but I had to give them some crap.... on one other note, Inca Gold Rubicon, awesome, your fenders look right on track! Some spacers up front will really add to the wicked front stance of your jeep!

I've had my jeep for just under 2 months and upgrade fever is really hitting me hard, but the income fever isn't here yet... bad combo for me! keep on keeping on!

I recommend that you wait for Savvy. It will be much higher than the other's skid plates. 4" over stock......

Oh... sure, steal the info I pass along to you and try to pass it off as your own. I have to agree waiting for the savvy though. Their gas tank skid is 30lbsless than others, and only 3 lbs heavier that stock. Their warranty is "Go ahead, break it. We dare you. See... you can't. If you can though, we'll send you a new one." Nobody else offers that awesome of a warranty.

What do you have for turn signals? Just the things that metal cloak includes? Are they bright enough, or easy enough to see?
