Just got most of it cleaned up, found nearly 100$ in burnt cash and change.

Pretty much everything from the bottom of the floor up is toast! Doesnt seem to be any real structural damage at all.

well the only problem I see is the 5.3 compatibility with the canbus system, might have to "rewire" for that one! LOL... I'll be watching this as well.

I'll take the tailgate hinges....err...

Seriously, that is one burnt up JK, would like to know what happened, but this build is going to be even better than the backstory. CRAWLED!

One of three things spring to mind when looking at this Jeep. A. forest fire engulfed this sahara. B. vehicle was tethered to a trailer that was driven by a break heavy driver on some windy (black hills) roads. And C, RV caught fire and passed it's infection to the attatched vehicle - the Jeep.

I am more inclined to believe B. first off, there were steel leads attatched to 4 corners of the Jeep, pine needles littered the interior, and the fire seems to have started from an area which would be really close to the front right wheel of a dual axle trailer.

Now we have had some forest fires in the Black Hills the past few years, one in which nearly took out my fathers place and killed the "band van" not to mention destroyed aprox. 40 vehicles of my friends. We have had some minor burns that typically happen from time to time burning a shed or a garage. So I can not yet rule out the possibility of a forest fire. I do know this vehicle spent some time up in the forest due to the fallen pine needeles that had gathered on the fire decorated floorboard. We did find a tool box with basic hand tools in the back and a womans purse in the front passenger side - this had the cash we had found. Two reciever hitches, and a towing package wired to use the jeep as an extension cord for brake lights - typically used for towing behind an RV. However I have seen only one RV that was a total burn and that was way before the JK was auctioned. Bahh its late and I am rambling, with poor grammer might I add...

Yep this should be a good one! I'm more inclined to think it was ditched as an insurance claim, or it stolen and burnt later since you found a purse in it. Interesting none the less.

Its also interesting to see just how much plastic the new JK's have on/in them.

Good luck with your build, I'll be watching!

What amazes me is that the whole JK burned almost to the ground, but that silly piece of silver plastic on the front bumper survived. What's that thing really made out of? Kevlar?

Can wait to see the progress!
