I have replaced both front calipers/rotors/pads a few years ago but im sure all the mud its been through has finally got to it.

Second is the steering box, it has been leaking like crazy the last few days and I have gone through 1 qt of power steering fluid in that time.
Lastly is my Check Engine Light came on now, Im sure that has to do with the sputtering ive been getting. It doesn't do it when the clutch is in but when im accelerating in 2nd and 3rd it sputters quite a bit. I have to push the clutch in and rev it up a little to get it going... Hopefully I can get it figured out...
remember when we went wheeling 2 years ago over by you and we had to remove my right front wheel because the caliper seized up? I still haven't replaced it lol. it will be replaced next week when im on vacation though. it only locks up when I hold the brake going down hill and the sticks for a while after that. probably changing pads and rotors also.

Haha I remember that, we used a Hi-Lift that day. Its pretty easy to get to and change, its finding the time to do it and the money for parts which is a PITA.

Well I finally got to jacking the jeep up and taking off both front tires.... Sure enough, BOTH calipers were seized up good and caked with mud.

Good thing I saved my receipts from Bond Auto, I brought the calipers in and they are under a 4 year warranty so I got 2 new ones for free! Also bought new pads and another bottle of brake fluid. Unfortunately I'm working the next few days so the install will have to wait till Thursday.

These are the old ones

New pads & calipers are on thanks to my buddy showing up after work and helping me install them before work tonight.

Only another issues arises..... While we were bleeding the brakes, the left rear brake line blew! We replaced the right rear one a few weeks ago and I guess we are replacing the left rear this week!!! It never ends......

So I picked up a rear brake line yesterday as well as another bottle of brake fluid. Hopefully today we will get that put in. Tonight I was crawling under the Jeep and was cleaning out as much mud as I could from the underside... Man there is a TON of mud in there!!!

Also while I was under there, I think I have found the reason for my sputtering problem!! I noticed a line next to my fuel line that was actually rotted out and it went to my fuel tank... I looked it up and it is my fuel vapor line. It was broke in half so Im going to see if I can replace this now while I have the jeep up on stands. HOPEFULLY that is the culprit!! This thing is gonna have all new lines before too long! Gotta love living in the northeast with all the rust issues

Oh my aching head..... So I got the brake lines all in and bled, new vacuum hose installed, wheels rotated and put back on, took her for a ride down the street and something in the front end is acting up. I thought it may have been the new pads or something so we pull it back into the garage and the smell of burning gear oil catches my attention... Look under the jeep and the heat coming off the front diff is not good....

image-1014550190.jpg

As soon as we crack the cover off the seal, the amount of dirty water and stench was unreal. I don't know how so much mud and junk got in there! The bleeder hose is on and elevated so I'm thinking an axle seal is bad. I ordered new bearings and seals for this thing, but im working all this week so probably wont be completed for a while... :

This is the line I replaced, used about 10 ft of it from the gas tank all the way up to the vacuum pump.

This has turned into quite the project.... I just got both front axles out and the gears out. There was mud inside my axle tubes and we found the seals were junk which we knew. I got all new seals and bearings already so now we just have to put it all back together.

But my buddy in his infinite wisdom, couldn't get a cotter pin out of the passenger side tie-rod, so he beat the bolt with a hammer until the pin broke. Unfortunately now the pin is stripped and he cut the bolt because it was just spinning... I've tried looking and I can't find if I can replace it, so looks like I'm going to have to buy a new tie-rod. Not to mention my damn dog chewed the cord to the sawsall so thats junk too. Pics to follow tomorrow, I was too frustrated to take some tonight.

New bearings have been greased and put onto the differential, have to get the output shaft and bearings out and replace those tonight. Also have to put the axle u-joints on too. Once that is completed, next step is to mount the seals and finish putting the axles back in! hopefully this or the next week!
