Just dropped in as another Hokie Alum (2005 grad) to say I really enjoyed reading your build! Clean work! I go up to Gore for Big Dogs quite a bit as well and our jeeps even look pretty similar

(on pennsyltuckian trail earlier this year)

Are you going to Fall Crawl in Gore next month?

Class of 07' myself.

I will probably not make fall crawl. With gore being 3+ hours away, I don't get there too many times a year.

Turkey run is an awesome trip.

We have everything from mild to wild. 31's to 44's. we normally break off into three or four groups.

That will be my next trip.

Turkey run is my local clubs (hardrock crawlers) thanksgiving run to rausch creek.
Sort of a members and friends run, RC is open for normal business though.

Got all the rock rash under the jeep painted up to keep rust at bay. Also got the wife to sharpie all the rock rash on the wheels. She almost never helps with jeep stuff, so it was a nice surprise.

Hokie Jeep looks real nice... Keep up the great work. How do you like the Goodyear's?

Thanks for the compliments.

Off road the MTRs are awesome. They flex well and grip great. I air down to roughly 9-10 psi (8" wide rim) and feel like I could go lower if I wanted to.

On road they lack a lot. I've had a hard time getting them to ride smooth. They balance within spec, but the run out (side to side movement) is right at the edge of spec (w/ road force balancer). So even though they are "balanced" they still wobble some.

Others have had different experiences though. Maybe I got a bad batch.

They are also a little loud and only getting louder. Plus they are stiff, so the ride is a bit harsher.

If the duratracs were better off road I would have kept them. But the sidewalls are just not strong enough.

I don't know if I would buy them again. Unless my jeep becomes an off-road only toy.

Hope that helps

You must have a bad batch. The worst I've ever been able to get my two sets of MTR's to ride is a small, hardly noticeable hop and that's with no weight at all. My current 37's are smoother than my past 35's.

I'm looking at them for sidewall and tread strength. I have km1s and have tore sidewalls and chunked tread and easily get dirt and rocks in beads.

This is exactly what I would say about mine.

Offroad they have been nothing but downright amazing for me, many times have I showed up rigs on the Krawlers just crawling up an obstacle they needed the skinny pedal for.

But mine don't really balance all that well either. In spec, but definitely got a bit of wobble, which is only noticeable at highway speed.

I can say that I haven't had any problems like those with the MTRs.

Only tiny little corners have gotten torn off. Less than 1/4"
