Hand Me Down XJ

The day has come that I am staring to build my XJ. My 99 XJ was purchased new by my dad and used as the family SUV for many years. We used it to trailer 3 bikes to Key West back in 2001. Not sure how my dad, brother and myself made that trip in the little Jeep. It was then handed down to my sister who drove it daily while she lived in New Hampshire, Atlanta and Wisconsin. While she had it a tree fell on it and broke the windshield. She gave it back to dad when it rolled 200,000 as she wanted to buy something new. Dad let his girlfriend drive it for a while and then it was retired to a back up vehicle. I then started to drive it during the winter a few years ago as my 1990 Silverado was way to nice to be subjected to Ohio winters.
Over the last few years I have used it for winter duty and a summer back up vehicle. I have done basic maintenance on it but always wanted to lift it and put on some nice wheels. I can now kick off a build thread as the lift kit, wheels and shocks are ordered. I will update the thread as I make progress. I was inspired by the Quadratec project XJ build as it was not to wild and I loved the way it looked when complete.

Stock as it sits today.

Decided to buy most of the stuff from Quadratec. I placed the order on Tuesday night and had most of it on my front porch Wednesday morning. That is some fast shipping. They did not have the wheels in the gunmetal Grey so I settled on silver. These should be here Thursday morning. So far so good. I am soaking the bolts in penetrating oil in hopes of no breakage during the installation. The jeep just rolled 270,000 this week. I have to replace the heater core as well so lots of projects in my near future.

Got most of my stuff from Quadratech. Super fast shipping and no freight cost or sales tax. This added up with my total spend on this project.

Also tackled the oil pan and rear main seal as well as the dreaded heater core and most recently the water pump.
