Big update.

The install on these things SUCK

You have to grind out the inner knuckle for the orange boot, and the clearance for the shafts.

I blew out my old drive shaft, so time for a new one!

Used some LEDS and some ENO Twilights to set up a night light

We went up to rausch to test the new shafts.

I let My girlfriend have a chance at the jeep!

Little rock

Little tree

Went out to my buddies place in WV, used the roll cage additions for something other then a roll thankfully

MY solid diff covers didn't like my 1ton steering and my Genright gas tank skid, so I changed to some Riddlers!

That's the major update for now! Next up, cage work!

Took it to camp heep, had a blast. That's black hole at Rausch, Looks solid, feels solid, It holds you when you stand on it, but a tire touches it and SINKS

Stretched it out a bit.

The other day I came home with this for my birthday

I'm working on getting the specs now, one of the guys local to me built it and I bought it off it's previous owner.

The color scheme matches to perfectly

the goal is to run matching wheels and tires and only run one spare.

And it needed some work so I redid the wiring through out the trailer. and added a few coats of varnish to the bed.

I'm pretty happy you could say

So I've been procrastinating on posting this because it's been frustrating and life got crazy for me for a bit. Back when I installed the RCVs I swapped in a bad set of Unit bearings as well. I was in a time crunch and didn't check em. Went wheeling on em twice and developed a half inch of play in the bearings. In getting home I took out 3/4 TRE because of the bearings. So back to the shop it went for new unit bearings and TRE, that was early/mid july. I moved Sep 1 from sterling to leesburg. The DAY BEFORE the big move I blew up the flange that holds the front DS at the T-case. That took out the u joint and allowed the DS to bounce around take out an ARB line, the electrics for my Rock lights and my shiftier linkage for 4wd. NBD pull the DS, go back to work, call the DS company. After about 3 weeks of not hearing anything about a replacement U joint under there warranty I called and they eventually sent me a new complete DS. I had ordered a new flange, thats on the rig now thanks to a buddys garage. But the jeep was still a bit flighty in the steering. After a little more Driving the jeep started to pull HARD left whenever I hit the brakes.

So I was careful for a bit then took it out to chaos to talk to my mechanic about the pulling because I knew it was steering components dead again, DW in a leaf sprung jeep Sucks because you can control it, but not stop it easily. Ak From Chaos fab shop walked out, looked down and said "You're having steering issues aren't you?" he noticed from about 3 ft out that my caster angle was about 3 degrees off. then checked the TRE. All 4 we're out as well as the steering box, that I replaced in august of last year was gone too. So ak and I talked and brainstormed and decided that I was gonna order some ruff stuff parts to fix it all. new parches and new u bolts.

Well ruff stuff dosent sell standard u bolt sizes, so they were the wrong thickness to use for my currie rock spring plates, and the pearches on the axle had the SS mount to them, so it was 2 steps forward, one step back kinda thing. We then talked about steering boxes and because PSC should have warrantied the box I had I didn't want to use it as a core charge. So I was looking at almost $500 for a referb durango box, or waiting 2 weeks for PSC to warranty and see if they would upgrade while they were in there. So I borrowed dad's jeep while mom was at a conference in philly and let him send mine in. We got word today they PSC is going to warranty the box through the shop

Back to the story, Chaos has all new TRE, and the start of my hyrdro assist kit going in this week. The new box is the big bore box which is going to be combined with the big bore pump here in the coming months. Combine that with a ram and some high pressure lines and my steering will be fixed or else.

Also Ordered a new Shifter linkage. Replaced the z box with a novek hard shift kit. love it so far

big bore box is in, steering box skid is to small for it now so the skid was sold. the shifter is in too. my front axle needs to be reset gear wise because my pinion is loose, not sure how that happened but the old driveshaft comes to mind. the new box is stupidly nice, only down side is that when I turn theres a slight delay, the power steering pump cant keep up with the box, so the new pump is in the works ASAP. after all that gets set up I'll buy the ram and lines for the hydro assist and weld up the brackets. Hopefully it's not a million years to get this system in and going. I'm trying to have the major work done before thanksgiving. well see how that works out with life and all that. Hardtop got put on too for the season.

Steering drives like a dream other then my power steering pump going out again. Chaos did an amazing job. Headed back out for a rebuilt front axle as well as the rest of my hydro assist in January.

Goal for 2015
Fix the little stupid stuff
Hydro assist.
Cage.
Trailer for the jeep.

The list of wants
Truck lights
Comp cut corners for the rear
Rear tire carrier.
Rockman drop tailgate.

Inspiration is coming for how I want the build to end up.
Wantons with arbs or ox lockers.
Cage.
Boatsides
Heavy duty t case.
V8
Oris.
I want a rig I can drive on the highway but I can really hit on the trails. Will it change? Hell yes it has already. But with the truck and tow rig now I can break it a bit more then I ever have before.

Found the exhaust leak, not another cracked header thank goodness. ERG delete failed at the gasket, and the main gasket failed too at cyl 3.

Pump was shot too, the new pump I put in back in june. So beware of cheap parts.

Big update, New ball joints are in, new PSC steering system is in. Looks like my drive shaft before it was replaced had a hand in taking out my gears and now I'm re-gearing the front. Went back and forth on regearing vs. tons or 44s and just couldn't justify the tons today when I can get back on the road this season and wheel. So on to the pics.

PSC reservoir and filter.

PSC Big bore box, tapped for hydro assist.

Axle drop

Cooler

New pump installed

Chaos doing what they do best.

Cooler installed, protected by the winch

Res installed
