Thanks. went to check out a d30 today hoping it was 4.11
the JY had effed it all up with the dozer, there was no saving that axle.
The good news is I saw about 30 explorers, I checked 10 and found 4 with 4.10. 1 code 42 and 3 D2.
One of the d2 was nearly rust free off an eddie bauer. he wants $300 for it. have to make up my mind now :P there is another yard nearby where I have a friend that might give me a better deal.

Oh I also picked up one of those temp/compass rearview mirrors and the sensor for $10

Not too much going on. I pulled the carpet this weekend so I can get to work on the floor. driverside has a new pan on the way, rest isnt too bad.
The sad part is when I bought it last year that rust was only half that size and I parked it over the winter to keep salt off! I think the carpet is what causes this, wet shoes on it and it stays damp under there. the rust is from the inside out believe it or not, underneath it only looks half that size.

Also installed a temp/compass mirror in it, set me back $10 at the u-pull
And today I found a 4.10 front dana 30, guy wants $100 for it, or $250 for the whole frame, with both axles and ax5 trans that I dont need, I just have to decide if I want all that extra junk :O

I think I may be able to help you out with your "Budget" build. I am a family guy myself with a limited budget like yourself. I have a set of 3" rough country springs that I no longer need. They served me well, but my current build is going down a different path so now they are just in my way. PM me if you are interested. I have the springs and drop pitman arm. Will need new bushings and shocks.

craigslist usually has a set or 2 around here. that one i found at the JY came in with 1 half door and it was smashed in. good luck. next time I go I need to find a 31" spare. I have a 235/75 spare now, better than the 215/70 I had before lol.

In other news I got my floorpan in from ebay, kinda dissapointed in it. the pics look like stamped steel but it was all done with a press brake and has all kinds of cuts and flaps on all the edges. I might get going on that this weekend, but first on saturday im helping a guy pull his tub off the frame so i can get my front axle (and maybe the whole frame). hes dropping the tub on a fullsize. pics to come later

Hmm. I thought i would try and butt weld it in, looks like you overlapped it on some spots, did you drill little holes and weld through them on the hump side? im just trying to figure out how I want to do this so I dont ruin it
i guess step 1 is to get out there and cut out the rot and go from there
