So I've been on Jeepforum for a good amount of time and after viewing everyone else's awesome Jeeps, I figured it was time for my trail to begin. Well this isn't my first Jeep, my first one was a 93' YJ white, and I didn't know what I was doing so I went the route of 3' body lift and it was all downhill from there. I bought it for $4500, put about $500-$600 into it, and sold it for $5500, so I made out ok... mind you I didn't like it being white anymore so I ended up spray painting it black, then to silver just a big mess...
Next Jeep was my current jeep, my 97 Sahara Green, TJ, I was going to buy for $5,000, with 115k on the clock, but as the owner went to take out his xm radio, he crack the windshield and dropped the price to $4800.00, better for me!
After my first run, got stuck by myself, big mess, lesson learned, got a winch and don't do it again alone... ever.
and the terror...
First thing was tint, I tinted the rear window, the front two windows, and the windshield only 6 inches (legal in NY), of course I got a ticket the day I got the tint on, but it's good to know people in law enforcement that's all I have to say, bye bye ticket
Next thing a set of spacers so I can easily clear 31s, then a set of 31s I got off a fellow member (alec) for a great price, Thanks!
After that I found a smoking deal on a softop, in great shape, every looking good for $200.00 and couldn't wait so I took off the hardtop, and installed the softop because my hardtop has a crack in the rear... and I just couldn't deal with it (don't ask)
After the soft top, the subs went in the back, and a few interior details, such as my cb radio went in, made my own over head mount, and I got a magnetic mount antenna from radioshack (I work there)
Then came the windshield mounts and a set of hella's up on the windshield
Then came my favorite part, Christmas
When I got my smittybilt xrc-8, and my rugged ridge corner guards and winch plate, thanks santa!!
After I was pretty suffice with the jeep, however wanted new rims, found a great deal on a set of cragar's, with 31' BFG A/T so I said screw it, gave the guy my old tires and rims + $100.00 and I got my new rims and tires
For Valentines day my loving girlfriend went ahead and bout me a pair of Husky Liners for the front
So as she sits now:
Windshield lights with hellas
Smittybilt Xrc-8 and rugged ridge plate
Rugged ridge corner guards
Cragar's with BFG A/T's
Of course recovery goodies, D-rings, tow hooks, tow strap
Radioshack Scanner and antenna (firefighter)
BULL LED blue light (firefighter)
GALLS wig wags (firefighter)
Nothing too huge, she's my DD, but I really like the way she's built so far, I was happy I learned my lesson off of my YJ because now I've been building my TJ the right way, and love everything about it
I've been a volunteer firefighter now for quite some time and absolutely love it, for all of my brother's out there, God Bless You, and be safe.
