Went over there last night to just mess around with some little stuff.

I got the CB antenna mount mocked in place. I made it a LONG time ago(right before swapping axles). I found out that the firestick fire-ring or whatever can be flipped over upside down(and mounting right under the antenna instead of on the bottom of the mount) as long as the plastic isolator keeps the bolt on the bottom from touching the ground. I verified with my SWR meter and it was at 2.0 on ch 40 and only 0.5 on ch 1

I need to actually drill the other 2 holes for it and paint it and it should be good to go back on.

Here's a crappy cell phone pic... it's all 3/16" steel plate welded up and then sculpted with my grinder. Took a long time to make about 11 months ago.

[angry mode] Ok man.... I have given you a nice break. I am glad that you enjoyed your fricken vacation and all, but it is time to finish the Jeep. I need an update you selffish buffoon.

[end sarcasm/]
Major sarcsm there. Just having a little fun, can't wait to see the next update Btw, what is that rod pointing back from the side of the tub? It kind of looks like a welding stick or a coat hanger, but I can't really tell.

Sorry man... the dog chewed through the cord for the laptop charger so I've been sans-interweb the last few days

Anyways on Saturday I went to the PNP and snagged a few things I could use... there was an 00 TJ in the yard, a white Sahara... somebody turned it in for the cash for clunkers BS It wasn't wrecked or anything, some people are stupid.

I grabbed the front driveshaft off of it and also a rear shaft off of an 88 Ford 3/4 ton van. I got that, it has a 1330 u-joint on one end, and a 1330-1350 conversion joint on the other. So I've got 2 yokes to cut off and put a 1330-1350 conversion joint on the ends of my 2 TJ front shafts... trail spare

I COULD use a 1350-1310 conversion joint, but I'm PRETTY sure that wouldn't get as good of an angle. I will be running a 1310 joint on the t-case end until I get a HD front output for my D300. Then I'll build another shaft with all 1350 joints on the front, maybe even 1410s, we'll see.

I've also been driving the Jeep daily since Saturday as well. Been good other than the fact that my negative battery terminal was corroded like hell... At the Pick and Pull it refused to start, popped the hood and found the corrosion. Scraped it off with a pocket knife and it was good again.

Then last night on my way to go to the store it happened again, so I looked closer and the terminal has corrosion between the actual "clamp" portion so I cleaned that out, got a terminal brush and cleaned everything really good, and then sprayed it all with corrosion resistant stuff. I think I'll be looking for a good terminal to replace the stock one so it will actually clamp right.

For anyone interested here is the difference in u-joint dimensions:

1310:
3.219" cross
1.063" caps

1330:
3.622" cross
1.063" caps

1350:
3.622" cross
1.118" caps

I know a stock Rubicon has 1330 joints stock, if you are trying to build another driveshaft, a lot of 1330s are under Fords, but beware of 1330F sized u-joints... they have a 3.625" cross(marginally larger) and 1.125" caps(much larger).

"Normal" 1330s have the same cap size as 1310s, but have a bigger cross.

Man... what is with puppies and laptop chargers. We have a 7 month old puggle that was given to us (owner beat cancer, and had herniated disks, she couldn't take the jumping) and she goes after the laptop chargers every so often. Our pound baby (now about 6) tried chewing on them when we first got her. It is a good thing we have more than we need, and my mom can get more for free.

Awesome score at the yard. I probably would have tried to buy the whole sahara for $1k with no title if I was there. That could be re-VINed and then make an awesome offroader with little money in it.

Yeah, the little bastard cost us $70.

Unfortunately vehicles that have gone through the CARS program can't be re-vinned.... and PNP doesn't allow taking the entire vehicle from the yard. I've tried before.

There's still a good transmission in it... 5 speed. I think AX15?

I forgot to add earlier I also nabber the fan shroud since mine is cracked

I didn't think any vehicles were supposed to be able to be reVINed?!?!?! I just know that it is possible by changing tags to something different, and claiming the vehicle was "repaired" with the new parts. It sucks that you can't get the whole vehicle from the PNP, I just wish there was one near me.

Do you happen to know if there was a center console in it? What color interior, it may be worth it to buy it from you

As for those laptop cords, they are very fricken expensive. It is really just like buying parts from a dealer, it can be 500% markup or more (one example, $380 for a seatbelt made in Mexico that costs less than $10 to make).

Have fun getting those little things done. Anything on the top of the list right now?

I picked up a fan shroud off of a 97 Sport at my junkyard today. Damn thing is in perfect condition and got clunkered. Pisses me off:

I thought one of the stipulation for CARS was the vehicle had to be worth LESS than the amount being offered. I don't think ANY TJs wold have been clunkered here, a 97 with 200k on a 4 banger sold for almost $4300 in stock form (my sister's friend was upgrading to a newer one).

Had the brown(spice?) interior. The center console was kinda crappy condition.

I'm going back and forth between reinstalling mine and just building one from some steel rods and cover it in sheet metal. If I decide to not use mine again, PM me when I have a custom center console made.

Should be cheap enough to do.. and I need some damn cupholders.

As for the CARS thing, I don't know... I just know that there was pink paint all over the engine block and valve cover... indicating that it was filled with cement or whatever the hell to destroy the engine for the CARS program. I was told anything the oil runs through is ruined.

The rear main seal wasn't even leaking IIRC.
