Very nice build you have going. I'll have to keep watching it's progress

I would love to be able to run some of those trails out that way someday. Truly awesome

The box is built!

I'll get some pics of it this weekend. We're going to waterproof the whole thing then when I hurculine the tub I'll hurculine the outside of the box too.

So, last weekend, my daughter and my wife ganged up on me. The result? I'm currently in the market for an XJ. - Not sure how I feel about this, I'd like to finish the wrangler first, but my daughter wants to bring friends on the trail, and my wife would prefer an automatic trans... So I'm gonna build them an "adventure jeep"

get a cheap XJ, do a 3" lift and put some 31's on it.
Then get back to the TJ!

Quick update:

Box is done, took forever to stain the damn thing, inside, outside, and in and out of both drawers... But it's in. I used some nutcerts to screw it down to the tub. Fits perfect!

Poison Spyder cage is here, will be welding it in on Friday. I guess I'm going to have to ditch the frameless soft top, even though I love it, and get a regular old soft top (no offence to you guys that run regular old soft tops :P

Can't find the camera, I'll get pics soon...

Welding in my full cage today.

I've decided to rattle bomb it rather than having it powder coated for a couple reasons.:

1, cheeper
2, Easy to touch up if/when I scratch it
3, won't have the jeep down for a week waiting for the powder coaters
4, cheeper

I'll be going down to my shop where I have a Miller Dynasty 250 Mig welder and a buddy with extencive fab background will be helping me. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly.

My only issue is where to mount the lap belt part of the 4 point harness' that I'm installing. I turned down some 1" bar on the lathe at work, drilled and threaded it to accept 7/16-20 grade 8 bolts. I'll drill into the B pillar and weld these in for the outboard lap belt mounts, but I dunno what I'm gonna do to mount the inboard side. I may just drill a hole in a piece of 2" angle and weld the angle straight to the tub floor... Not sure yet.

Here's the threaded plugs I made for the outboard side. Will get pics with my phone as we go, still can't find my camera.

Cage:

Lap belt bungs (I made these)

More to come.
