Daveys salvage jeep

So after I sold my 4 banger, I've looked for a decent 4.0 tj around 10grand. I didn't wait long to decide the market for jeep around me is ignorant. Your not touching a tj under 100k and built in the past decade under that price.

So I went to Salem Ohio, to my new favorite place one earth. daveys jeep.

This is what I'm picking up Sunday.

2003 4.0 auto with 90k miles
The tub and frame is beautiful (rust free). It was smacked in the passenger front tire. More pics will follow this weekend when I bring her home and start taking it apart.

I've learned that my plans, and what I actually do rarely co-exist.

It has a 3" lift and decent 33" swampers. I need to replace the controll arms, all in the front. Go over the axels, bearings, and change the steering box.

I don't want to go bigger than 35's so with a 1" bl, and some tube fenders I'm sure I could clear them.

I was thinking metal cloak for armor and fenders, but my last jeep had ccfab fenders on it, think I might go with them.

The control arms need replaced so it's either get some stock ones, or go aftermarket, hell I considered long arm, but it would be budget minded. (And I'm not sure of that).

My first aftermarket part is one the way. Genright clearance had this

So I'm off to a good start!

To be continued

My credit card is got tossed around today. Ordered from ccfab. I had there fenders on my last tj, now I'm getting the hoodline fenders, rocker sliders, and corner armor with the 3" flare. Chris from ccfab is great to work with and they have great products.

Davey gave me all the front control arms, but I recently learned. I can change 2 out at a time. I'm thinking I would like to change some. But it's only 3" of lift.

Got her home today... So the lower control arm bracket on the front axle is bent and ripped, definitely have to find a good welder. Probably going with a rustys or btf bracket. Mind as well change both lowers.

The say bar link is cracked and the stud on the sway bar is cracked. I don't know if mine are just rusted in the sway bar, or they are just built in as part of the sway bar.

Little update.

I have the btf lower control arms mounts on there way.
I also got a great deal on some iro adjustable ca's (I know I'll probably want currie or savvy with johny joints later, but atleast this gets me in the ball game.

I also found that my trak bar is bent out of shape, so I went to iro and got the double shear trak with relocation bracket. Let's hope this works. Hate to have a lot of issues because I didn't buy once cry once. Full review and pics will follow.

I figure I have enough people I know getting into jeep that they would love my take off upgrades.

Stoked, just found the build sheet... It's not 3.07's like I assumed. It's 3.73's!
I'll have to beat these axles a little longer now.

Can't wait to see this one, as for the fenders, a buddy of mine used to run 2.5 in coils with smitty tube fenders( which is basically the same clearance as the ccf fenders). He ran 35's and had plenty of up travel. Unless you are wanting the bl for other purposes as well. Good luck with the build.

So the passenger side axle tube is bent.... So what's my best option... Hp 30 inbound. Even found one in my gears.
I also picked up a rear bumper for 50 bucks today to hold me over until I get a savvy rear to match the front.

Mocked up my savvy front bumper, I really need to score a winch.

I also got my control arms and trac bar in. I blame the paint on boredom, kinda regretting but they look ok.

The armor went on well, I had to switch a couple bolts out for stainless lag bolts because there was no room on the back to put a nut.

I just got the zj steering mocked up.
