Dave's 1997 TJ

This is going to be mostly copy and paste stuff from other forums..but here it is anyways:

History of my Jeeping life:
Started with this 88 back in 2010 (first jeep ever):

Ended up looking like this when I was done with it: (yes same jeep)

Sold it and bought this:

After some money and time it looked like this:

Sold it and bought a dumb *** toyota (flame away):

Sold it and ended up with this thing:

After lots of work, and a good bit of $ it turned into this:

For some reason got bored and ended up with this (which is where I am now) (check that smiling front tie rod):

Next..getting it trail ready on a non-existent budget.
Found a set of 2012 JK shock take-offs for 20 bucks, picked them up.
Also went with some simple BPE's up front.

Since I have the D35 I am expecting some carnage at some point. Since I am funding my wedding I am broke till late october..decided I dont have funds for an 8.8 swap just yet.. so keeping the 35 for a while.

Managed to find a new in the box d35 chromo shaft for 15 bucks right down the road from me..
Couldnt pass up the deal..at least I have a spare shaft now.

Wheeled it a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed with it. Going from a 3 linked xj on 35s to a bb tj on 33s was a bit differnet..but nothing horrible.

I need to invest in a new top. Looking at the 300 dollar Quadratop with tented windows (3 year warranty). I already have new soft uppers.

As far as suspension goes I am planning on a custom built 3 link with frame mounts (no custom x member) using JJs and 2" .25 wall square lowers, probably 1.5" .120 Upper. Hoping ill have funds for this around christmas.

As far as the rear goes I will probably keep it short arm until next summer. Thinking of just adding some adjustable arms back there for pinion adjustment and being done till I can afford an axle swap and a rear L/A build.

Id like to stay at 3" for suspension, and go with the JKS 1.25" body lift...Think this will perform ok with 35s?

Id also like to do the browndog MML with the UCF Ultra high skid.

Going to be selling the stinger soon, and investing in the Rough Country (as much as I despise them) recessed stubby winch bumper. I just like the looks, and the fact that it has a recessed mount.

4.88s will most likely come when the 35s do..but this is a ways down the road.

Also, if anyone was curious about the JK shocks.. direct swap.
You do need to press out the JK bushings, and push in TJ bushings with the barpin up front.. but I decided to go with the BPEs

I also had to do some grinding in the back for the part of the shock to fit through the TJ axle mounts. Other than that it went smooth. They ride just fine, and have plenty of travel for just my 2" lift.

I think ive decided on going with Rustys 3" coils all around.. I live close enough to a seller of theirs to pick them up with no shipping costs..so I can get the entire set for under 250 out the door.
Where I am stuck is shocks. Im done with pissy white body shocks.. Im wanting something that is decent all around. I know the 5100s are the go-to shocks..but I have been eyeballing the Fox 2.0 Factory Perf shocks. Any thoughts?

Ive also looked into FOA shocks..and havent ruled them out. Jeep sees about 20 miles a week as a DD, and is driven from home to the trail regularly. Terrain is mostly all rocks

Seems like you got a pretty solid plan going. I'm in the same boat, can't make up my mind on the jeep purchases. Good luck with it.
