The Dark One, Named Rumpelstiltskin.

So I Figured I will start a build thread.

I have owned my 2003 TJ freedom Edition, for a year now. So far in that year me and the jeep have been at war with each other.
Hence the name Rumpelstiltskin. When you make a deal with him you have to pay in the end. Here is what it looked like when i brought it home and tested it on the dirt mound in the back yard.

Well i took the dark one to Jeep Beach 2014, Before i left on the trip I made that deal with the Dark One saying get me to Daytona with no problems and don't let me break a axle while i am there ( yes i have a locked crappy Dana 35 )
So the Dark one agreed and had a great time while i was their. On the way home the Dark One collected on his deal with me, 3 hours from home the front drive shaft failed and took out the transfer case.

After destroying the transfer case, i could not find a usable 231 in my area and the junk yard wanted 450 for one. So checking with a friend of a friend who parts out jeeps, the only transfer case he had is a 1982 AMC 208 with a fixed yolk rear output. so he gave me the T case for free. The 208 went right on with no trouble. the only real issue was the shifter so i had to make one.
Also i had to have a new front drive shaft made and took a old CJ rear shaft and had it shortened to fit my jeep.

Well bad luck strikes again, I was getting ready to put my cheapo clutch in and found out the pinion bearings in the front axle just failed.

Well the Dark One had more in store for me. Asides the clutch and the front pinion, i have found water in the trans and the rear pinion is bad once more. Now i get to add that to my list.

Well i installed the new clutch, and confirmed that the syncros in the trans are bad, still grinding all gears. I am just thinking its time to give up on the jeeps drive line since the axles need to be rebuilt too.

I am either going to do a 5.9 dodge with the axles out of a 95 ram 4x4

or do a 6.2 diesel non turbo with the dodge ram axles.
