Things are moving forward. Seats arrived Saturday & the belts should be here today. I've made some changes to the cage & will probably verify all the measurements & redraw it again a little more accurately before I start bending & cutting & notching. I'll be ordering the tube today. My source got me a price of $3.03 /ft for 1 3/4"x.120 DOM. We'll be building 2 identical cages. One for Kellerumps & one for myself.

Here is what the final design is. I'm sure we'll make a few small changes on the fly once it starts coming together.

I'm pretty impressed with the seats. They are Mastercrafts Nomads. Supposedly a China made Rubicon. I don't have any other Mastercrafts to compare them to, but they felt very solid & well built. The covers fit snug & the framing felt solid. They fit me about perfect. If I was any larger, I'd definitely want a wider seat. IMO, the sub belt was a bit far back. I would have preferred it an inch or more forward. The welds could have been a little cleaner as well. All in all, I'm very happen with them & for $200 a seat, you really can't go wrong.

So are you going to run doors anymore? Itll be interesting to see if you can get them to fit. Thats similar to how Im going to do my cage minus the door bars.

Ive sat in a few of those seats too and they are comfy!

That's my main concern with the door bars. Not sure if they'll fit, or if I'll even like them impeding entrance & exit. I planned for them so I have the material.

You will have trouble fitting the hip bars comfortably with factory doors. On my first cage I was able to get the A-to-B floor bar to sneak in just under the pocket on the factory door inners and that worked well but there just isnt room between the seats and the factory doors for a hip bar IMO that wouldn't intrude on your interior space.

If you ran soft doors you could get the hip bar in much easier . I personally dont want them in my own rig as I get tired of going over them , but they do add a lot of strength to a cage . If possible I would try to keep them straight .

you'll have a lot more room if you run the fabric half doors frame with a skin over it instead of a stock door.

Or Savvy half doors…. looks good though. A lot like what I have in my head when I make mine. Only a 4 seat version.

I'd make a set of my own before I bought Savvy. I have the panel drawn, & latching all figured out, even simpler than the Savvy latch, but figuring out an easy, economical, nice top rail is where I'm stuck on those. I get back to them once I have a few other things checked off the list.

I like my full doors too much in the winter. I ran a set of halfs when I was figuring out the alum doors & couldn't wait to get them back to their owner.
