Made a new cat hanger, reversed.... 1/2 rod bent in my vise. This should help matters in the front.

Are you relocating the cat by doing that somehow? Because that's what really needs to happen so the crossmember can run all the way through.

I'm hoping that by getting the hanger out of the way I can fit the support under the exhaust pipe where the hanger was. Getting ready to test fit right now, I just got the exhaust back together.

Gotcha! For me, with the huge 42RLE tranny pan, I don't have the room to do that. That's why I was going to make a bend right in front of the cat. It'd only be about 8" wide, but would sort of pick up where that welded angle left off. Maybe weld a small piece going front to back tying the two together.

How thick is the stock cat? I wonder if, for those that need to run a cat, switching to something like this at only 4" diameter would allow enough room for full width bracing to slide underneath.

Ok I went back & looked at nate's install pics. The front edge of my skid & subsequently the support angle are further back than his to clear my stupid tranny pan. My support angle runs right into the cat body. I took a quick measurement & there is just over 6" from the top of my skid to the bottom of my tub. The magnaflow above is shorter & smaller diameter & could fit in that space & easily fit a cross member under it. Could even shift it rearward to gain even more room under the pipe. Relatively cheap too. So that would be a relatively easy option for someone who needs to run a cat. I however, I think mine is getting trashed & a full width true crossmember designed up.

This has been some great discussion guys! Thanks!

That is what I was trying to explain this morning but run all the angles into each other so they form a full rectangle (or trapezoid)

Was just going to suggest that from your post!

Maybe even flipping the side angles around to tie in the rectangle tubes to the vertical flanges too.

I was gonna say earlier were all dealing with different things under there, but sharing all of our individual tweaks will help everyone overall. I think that aftermarket cat is a great idea.
