Daily Driver TJ evolution

Daily driver 2002 TJ Sahara from east coast Canada. Bought by me in Jan 2009.
It came with a bunch of bolt on nice stuff like skids and all the things a Sahara usually comes with... D44 with limited slip, 3.73 gears, 5 speed, cruise...

It was on 31's with 2.5" BDS springs when I bought it. I didn't get the winch.

Soon after, I put 31" KM2s on it and wheeled it like that for a while.

Clarion deck with usb input was one of the best things I ever did.

Sold the hard top! Bye bye 300lbs hitch-hiker.

33x10.5 just sorta happened... had to notch the stock bumper to make the spare fit on the stock carrier.

wheeled it like this for a while just about every second weekend for two years....and drove it to work.

using a ramp to change out the rear springs....

lots of wheeling and minor repairs along the way....

recently I found the resources to take it to the next level so the transfer case drop was removed, a 1" body lift and motor mount lift was installed... I've still got minor driveline vibes from removing the TC drop but it's livable.

got rid of the plastic side cladding and my friend made some rails for me from 4x4 square tube.

last week....covered in road salt.

friday I finally said to heck with the skinny's and bought some 33x12.5 Km2s.

I had to lose the stock canyon wheels because these tires would be up against the rear coils... these crappy old chrome steelies will be refinished flat black shortly.

I'll update this once in a while but so far I'm having fun with the upgrades and looking forward to trying it out on the trails soon. I still have some fixes to do. The front driveshaft contacts the TC skid so it needs to be notched.

Stuff that can't be seen in the pics... RC adjustable trackbar, swaybar disconnects, rear swaybar tossed in trash, some other stuff I can't recall.... lol

Coming soon, adjustable short arms to replace stock arms and a few other tricks.

I spent the weekend at my friend's place rebuilding and installing some used RC adjustable control arms. All 8. Rear pinion angle is now perfect and no vibes at all.

Made a quick and dirty tool for putting together the joints. (redneck solution but it worked!) These are version 1 of the RC arms...not the x-flex ones. The price was right and these are still an upgrade over stock arms on a lifted Jeep.

The stock front lowers were BY FAR the worst to remove. Serious pain the butt.

I have a couple bugs to work out, like one of the front upper CA's hitting the exhaust pipe but overall, this was a great purchase.

Adjusted the toe in this weekend and some minor maintenance...oil change, cleaned it up some. I've been running too much air in these tires. Took it down to 25 lbs to see how that goes. It drives straight now after the redneck alignment so that's a plus. It was off by 3/8" of an inch.

I found I need balljoints, a wheel bearing and while I'm in there, I'm going to do the ZJ tierod mod... next pay...
