More parts ordered today. Fuel cell from Summit, winch from Quadratech (pm q-tech on the forum for free shipping). Gotta pick up more from Advance tomorrow and get radiator ordered.

My back still hurts, but I said hell with it and did a little work tonight. My fuel cell came in as well as my Q9500I winch. I picked up some steel today and started work on the front bumper and winch mount...sorry no pics yet. I got a 33" x 10" piece of 1/4" plate for the winch mount and the starting point for the bumper. I will try to get enough done tomorrow so you can see what I have planned and then get some pics.

How are you gonna drill those holes? (I've yet to find an easy way to do it and might try a step bit next)

Hougen makes a set of really neat hole cutters. It goes from 1/4 to 3/4 up to 1/4 depth. I use them all the time now. Work kind of like a hole saw they just cut out a circle about 3/32 wide so they work pretty well with a cordless.

When I built my bumper I just used regular ol bi-metal hole saw. just take your time and keep the rpms down and it will cut like butta.

I always start with 1/8, then 1/4, then 3/8, etc. I've been doing than since I was a tool and die maker about a hunded years ago.

Got most of the bumper done and tacked together tonight. Top plate is 1/4" and everything else is 3/16". I cut out the holes for the Ballistic Fab shackle mounts which probably won't show up until next week. Lots of welding to do now. I was going to just weld it to the frame, but I think I will make it bolt on. You can see the bottom plates in the one pic.

I will be filling in the bottom corner piece if you were wondering. I just ran out of steam and have to get up early tomorrow.

Fuel cell is here too.

Nothing too exciting tonight. I just finished the bottom corner pieces, put a 45 on the fairlead mount and welded until I ran out of wire.

Props for making your own stuff. Looks like it's tucked nice and close to the grill. That's cool.

Aside from finish welding, drilling some mounting holes, and paint it is done for now. Once I get moved into the new shop I will get a tubing bender and build a stinger.

Got the shock hoops tied into the cage tonight. Pics are too big to load from the phone so you will just have to wait till tomorrow. I welded a tube from the B post to the C post then welded a tube from side to side behind the rear seat. I then welded a 1/4" plate to the tubes and drilled and bolted them to the shock hoops so the cage is still removable. Shock will be here Wednesday. ..can't wait.

My Ballistic order came today. It is so nice to not have scrap tubing where my shocks are supposed to be any more.

20140121_200140.jpg

20140121_204653.jpg

Oh yea...16" travel Nitrogen shocks

Also got some Ballistic Joints for the rear 4 link bars to get rid of the rubber mounts and get that last little bit of travel. I got a new set of brackets for the rear axle too. The stuff on there now is pretty crappy. I might even recess this into the truss a little for some more clearance between the upper links and the floor.

20140121_214215.jpg

20140121_214224.jpg

And finally the Shackle mounts.

20140121_214231.jpg

That's not all, My radiator from Ledfoot Racing came too along with the shroud, electric fan, and relay kit.

20140121_213227.jpg

Initial impression of the radiator is pretty good. The welds look decent. All of the holes lined up just fine. The fan just fits between the radiator and the pulleys. A little more room would be nice, but I have about an inch between the pulleys and the fan motor. The fan can be mounted as a pusher if I decide I don't have enough room.

Did a little more welding on the front bumper tonight. Got the shackle mounts welded in at least from the outside. One corner is welded and ground smooth. I probably have 2 or 3 more hours of welding and grinding to finish this thing up.

20140122_213122.jpg

I tried installing the E fan and shroud tonight and ran in to a problem. The shroud does not fit around the fan. I ordered this from Leadfott Racing (Champion) as a set so I would assume everything would work together. Looks like I will be giving them a call tomorrow.
