Thanks for looking out for me. I think I can just barely fit the mechanical fan, but I plan on running electric anyway and was also thinking something along the lines of what Mike did if necessary. There is a lot of excess space inside the grill if I need to get radiator that will tuck inside.

Mike, You are running the stock 4.0 radiator? does it cool ok with the 5.2?

i'm actually using a stock aluminum radiator from a '99 2.5L TJ.
in the dead of summer, the only time the fan is needed is if i'm not moving or driving slowly around town. other than that the t-stat does all the work. when the fan is needed it cools the motor quite fast. so quick in fact that my temp will dip below 160 at times before the t-stat has a chance to close up.

I wish I would have grabbed the radiator out of that parts Jeep I used to have. My 4.2 radiator has seen better days.

I thought about painting the accessories, but then I reminded myself that I am not building this to look nice. It is build to perform. I have plenty of more important things to do than spend time painting. Sorry to disappoint you.

Still somewhat confused on my gears. I recounted the teeth and was not completely wrong. I marked each tooth with a sharpie this time so I was absolutely sure. 41 teeth on the ring gear and 9 on the pinion, which equals 4.56. Seems all cut and dry...right? Well, not so much. The gears are clearly marked with the precision gear logo. According to their web site the 4.56 gears for a D44 have 50-11 teeth and the 4.56 gears for the D30 have 41-9. Can a D30 Gear set be installed in a D44? What other explanation could there be?

Here is a full pic of my front axle.

measure the ring gear. D30 is 7.20" and a D44 is 8.5". that should tell you what ring gear you have.

So I measured the ring gear diameter and it measure right around 8.5", or the best I could tell while still in the axle. So they are definately D44 gears. Not sure why the tooth count does not match the precision gear web site, but I am moving on and just be happy that I found a LSD and 4.56 gears in my axles. Not what I was expecting when buying axles off of a scrapped vehicle.

Did some more wiring tonight. Got a bunch of un-needed wires out of there. All ABS stuff is gone and the head light stuff. I will be running the lights off of the YJ harness. Made a lot of progress tonight. Hopefully some time in the near future we can hear this beast roar.

I know it is not on the engine, but I added a little color to the front Axle.

Weeded out a few more wires this weekend.

A few more circuits to trace and I will be ready to start connecting the new to the old.

Got a little work done on the YJ side of the wiring and mounted the PCM to the fire wall. I know there is some debate on the location I chose, but it just fits there too well. I also temporarily mounted the PDC on the stock battery tray. I will either weld it or bolt it there once I button things up.

Finally got back at the Jeep tonight. I think the Grand Cherokee side of the wiring was easier because there are better schematics. I can't find a really good schematic that identifies the circuits and ties them into the bulkhead pin out. I have three red wires from the bulkhead labeled battery. I am not sure where to tie them into the GC wiring. Any insight would be appreciated.
