Anything going on with the Jeep lately? How is the dash coming?

I've been busy with school lately, so I haven't had time to do anything to it. However, I finally bought a slave cable receptacle:

This will mount on the front right fender of my jeep, and I'll cutout a hole in the hood for it to sit just inside. Eventually, I'll have some kind of fording system installed too, and the air intake side will come through the same hole in the hood like this:

The M38A1 has a set up more suitable to your build than the M38. If I were doing the snorkle and slave I would follow its example. The slave recepticle is on the lower portion of the front 1/4 panel, and the snorkle exits through the hood through a cutout that can be replaced or removed as required. IMO the arrangement is far more adaptable to a TJ than the M38 set up shown in your pics. Of course it's your project and I don't intend to tell you what to do, I am just expressing what I believe to be an easier and more asthetic mod.

Edit to add picture below...

Both items can clearly be seen in this photo.

Needless to say, very impressive. Really curious as to the dash transformation. It'll be the "crowning" of the whole look you've been striving for.

Update on my project woes!

Still haven't had time to work on it lately... My workshop's at my mums house and I haven't had much time to go there as much. However, I have a plan now as to the design of the dash, so one step closer, eh? I think you guys will like it! I'll give you a little hint. The TJ heater/AC controls will be hidden from view. And I'll use the original dash, but will 'look' like gauges from an older jeep. I still have to bring my dash + airbags + aluminum rims + other crap to the jeep graveyard to trade for a suitable replacement dash parts + steering coluum + steering wheel + other crap to complete the transformation... it sucks being broke with all these ideas!

Hey OUTBACK, that other location is really cool, so it's a definite 'maybe'. Thanks for that idea! I have to see what's on the other side of the hole (inside of my jeep) first, but I already spent an hour fabbing a mount for the fender location so I might just go ahead with my original plan. Just so everyone's on the same page here, I'm mixing M38, MB, & M38A1 designs into my project because I like them all, and the more challenging a problem is, the better the outcome. I even plan to fab rear fenders after a powerwagon, so my tires don't stick out so much (The cops here are pretty cool, but they did mention that there's too much tread showing on the rears).

Finally decided to makeover the full soft doors. I'm gonna paint invasion stars & "FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY" on the door canvas. I thought it would be funny to put "FOR OFFROAD USE ONLY", but chickened out at the last minute. I'll throw some pics as soon as I'm done.

Sorry again for the long pause in my project, but remember, good things come to those who wait! -Jake

yeah, well don't let it happen again!

haha

really lookin forward to some new pics and updates. the snorkel setup is gonna be sweet no matter which route you go on it. and i think going with "official" rather than "offroad" is a good idea, even if only for aesthetic reasons.

cool thing about a build like this is that you are never really done. always tweaking and mods to be done.

On the top flapping problem, would the Skid Row top-prop work for you?

How about swapping the rollbar out for an early YJ, or CJ rollbar?
