Certainly is the nicest TJ I have ever seen. Well done.
Think I like it the most due to the attention to detail, I used to own a 44 Willys MB & see a lot of likeness in the TJ there.

If I might ask a simple, yet obvious question:
why are you running 12.5" wide tires? the military Jeep your modeling yours after ran thin-profile tires. why not run 33x10.5 ??

Either way....nice rig

Thanks everyone for all of the positive responses! Actually Zamboni68, it does have 33's on 10.5" rims with a 4 1/2 backspace. It appears wider perhaps because of the lens I was using on the camera. As far as the tires go, I felt that it's less of a headache to replace a standard tire & rim if there's a mishap, than with the military tires. Besides, military grade tires are made of a hard rubber that is unforgiving when it comes to potholes and 'normal' driving. Plus, they have tubes (like a bicycle) that require constant maintenance. And the speed rating is limited as well. Someday I might change over, but for now I need something reliable & inexpensive.

i think what he means was getting the same tires you have, but in a narrower size, 33x10.5 tire vs 33x12.5 like you've got, still the same tire and same characteristics, btw that thing looks so awesome

I was thinking about doing the same thing to my TJ, then I found this thread and saw I was not the only one that thought that way. You are going way beyond what I was thinking about doing. I was thinking about doing mine like the first set of pics you posted and using my black soft top and metal half doors. Your Jeep looks awesome, keep posting pics.

Went to the upholstery shop today to drop off the doors I'm going to use for this project...

Here is a before picture of the full soft door before modifying. It will be reskinned with heavy gauge O.D. canvas. The top window will look square from the outside using canvas flaps, but will have curved edges inside so I can unzip it. The bottom half will just be canvas. Eventually I will add an invasion star to it. The handles will be M38 style with no locks.
And here's a couple of seat fabric pics...

Here is the seat cover for the new seats. They are made from O.D. canvas as well. It is a slightly thinner gauge than the top, & a lighter shade as well.

The material for the top and seats are water resistant, and should hold up to many years of abuse. The only problem I can see (Actually smell!), is the oil they have added to the canvas to protect it. This stuff really stinks when it's in a roll several yards thick! I didn't anticipate this, but have been reassured by the company that the musky smell subsides after it airs out in the sun. We shall see.
