and NOW the leatherman arrives.

this would have been great earlier.

well, i WAS going to put the lights on this weekend, but sadly it's been an awful, rainy weekend. i may have to do it tuesday.

the great milk-jug massacre

so this morning i woke up up and checked the weather. i have had fitful sleep and needed something to brighten my mood. so when i saw that there was an apparent 0% chance for rain today, i was excited.

now i have a small confession: i have removed crawley's doors often. it's one of my favorite ways to drive, and if you happen to be in north georgia, you'll likely see me tooling around town that way.

however crawley has only had his roof off once before.

this is mostly because he has a hard top, and before relocating to Ga i never had an accomplice to help with removal/installation.

today, i had to go for round two:

now... it was about the time that i took this pic, that my brother mentioned about how you guys kiiinda give me crap about still having that stupid jug on the passenger side. he decided since we were up at 6am, we should just solve that with haste.

so we spent some time on that. we tried the "logical" method, and attempted to remove the screws in the traditional fashion, to no avail. then we tried to curb-stomp it off (which was fun, but mostly ineffectual).

then we tried PB blaster and more torque on the screws.

no such luck.

we tried using a BFH, which was about as successful as our curb-stomping technique.

finally, my brother had a different idea.

enter, the annihilator:

you may be asking: "pookie, what the eff IS that thing?"

that my friends is a demolition hammer made by dead on tools.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/ec97/ <-- this store link has none available, but has the most amusing (yet accurate) description of the device.

i think this was just an excuse for my brother to play with this new toy for the first time.

the hammer functionality got us about as far as my jeep hammer was getting us, but the prybar functions are where the tool really shined in making crawley look symmetrical.

i would have taken more action shots, but where i was standing was already a bit hazardous with regards to the fact that every side of the annihilator can kill a man and standing in the path of soon-to-be-pried anything is a bad idea.

the end result?

the best damn pic that's going up on jeepforum today :

oh... yeah... and um... now crawley looks symmetrical too.

disregard his excess PB blaster on that side.

anyway, crawley is looking good today. we're gonna have a great time.

that's gonna be this week, since i FINALLY have some time off.

had to take some vacay before it rolled over so i don't have a lot of extra play money saved up. gonna do the "staycation" thing and use the time to do what i should have done a few weeks ago

I don't know, I don't think they're technically "illegal" where I live, but they might be other places. That Jeep is street legal and I have plates on it and stuff, but I don't daily drive it, I drive my other Jeep mostly.

I saw them somewhere for $170, but I think that's for each light though...

hmm... worth checking into....

does it make me a d-bag that a factor in purchasing those for me is whether they would clash with my KC lights?
