just as a for fun project, I decided to make my ruffstuff D30 cover into a housing stiffener. not sure what its going to accomplish, other than being another layer of polish on an already polished turd.

this is the best way we could come up with to do it.

5/16" countersunk bolts drilled out to become 60degree tapered washers.
60* tapered countersink to the holes
11/16" counterbore on the holes to make room
1-1/4" grade 8 bolts.

the plan is to install with RTV, not a lube-locker or other gasket. the idea is to get the two surfaces to actually mate and get some clamp load out of the system. that would not be possible with a flexible gasket.

I wouldn't have bothered, but I won the ruffstuff cover in a naxja raffle, so it seemed like a fun idea.

made good progress over the weekend.
I didn't take any photos. because I am dumb

rear bumper is done-ish.

rear quarters/taillights are welded in.

passenger tube work is 90% done.

shocks are rebuilt and ready to go

next up is front shocks rear stretch, driveshaft, shock mounts, and enclosing the cab.

and probably 10 other things I forgot.

updated: ordered a set of springs from National spring here in san diego. they are a couple weeks out and the jeep needs to be weighed before they are built. so I will be running on the RE's for now.

Shock towers are in

back on its own weight. once the new springs are in final ride height will be about 2" lower and the tire will be about 4" back from where it is now.

By chance did you remember about the main ground for the fuel pump that's inside the rear compartment of the vehicle?

If you happen to neglect to properly connect this ground, your jeep will get you just far enough to be stranded when it looses connection...

It's alive again!

Still lots left to do, but so far it works awesome.

I can't say enough about the tuned fox shocks.

What a difference that makes.
