I did notice that the control arms were binding up/hitting the topside of the control arm brackets on the axle side, (Also where the front shock lower axle side mounts are at) I didn't think about notching those out for clearance though. Thanks for the heads up!

yep. the OEM shock mounts are the problem.

Joe Dillard and I solved that problem with a trick jeepspeed guys use to run a longer shock without going into the engine bay.

I am looking into different coils to see what I can do, its all about the budget.
I'm running 4" of lift and I don't really want to go up much higher. 1/2" to 1" wouldn't be a horrible thing.

I'm looking at Currie progressives, or Deavers. its all whats in the budget.

I'm going to give Impeds sugestion a try on my rig and see how much down travel I can gain. I've got the Currie springs, Currie bump stops, and Savvy/Fox shocks which are all supposed to play nice together. I do know the Currie springs are way long when unloaded and maintain pressure on the spring pads all the way to full droop when my control arms bind on my shock mounts. The main reason I went with the Currie springs is because my old springs were falling out of the spring pads at full droop by about 2.5". I emailed a bunch of different vendors asking for unloaded spring measurements on their 4" lift coils, and Currie had the longest measurement.

its been a long time coming.
finished the t-case skid today.

it has 2 9/16" bolts going through the unirails using anti-crush sleeves, and 4 9/16" bolts going into the crossmember.

still needs a bit of cleanup and a paintjob, maybe a few mor pieces on the side to protect it a little more.

That is the best looking crossmember skid I've ever seen on an XJ. Real nice work.

My Jeeps name is TUG!

finally got back on the trail.

did some nice moderate wheeling in the desert. most of the run we did would not have been considered difficult if it weren't for the amount of exposure. mostly steep desert mountain trails, ruts, rocks, and lots of drops

more of a 'drivers' day as apparent by the number of JKs on 35"s and 37"s I spotted around corners...

exposed a few weaknesses in the build so far. need more fender clearance, need more travel out of the rear, and progressive bumpstops all around....

swapped in Currie 4" TJ coils today. the coil has about 4" more length unloaded, which will allow me to use the full stroke of my 12" shocks up front. If I can get about 1.5" more uptravel.
need to sort out some tire clearances and figure out how to keep my TB from hitting the dif cover.

the new coils are awesome. they are a bit softer than the RE's, and with the progressive rate they should ride a little nicer and soak up the bumps a little better.

RE 3.5" coil at ride height.

currie 4" at ride height

new ride height
