CJ7 Laredo Upgrade suggestions

I've got an 86' CJ7 Laredo with 258 I6, Dana 44 / 30 (2.72)....pretty much stock. Body/frame in really good (rust-free) condition. I've got about $10k that I've budgeted to spend on upgrades for the jeep to make it a "reliable" daily driver/weekend warrior. I'm looking for suggestions on upgrades that would help me get the biggest bang for my buck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you interested in keeping the six cylinder? If so you could swap in a fuel injected 4.0 out of a 90's wrangler/ Cherokee and then stroke it out to 4.7 for power. You might consider a 5 speed out of a dodge (nv 4500) and then swap out the front for a 44 out of a wagoneer.
honestly, I would go slow, learn as you go instead of jumping in with both feet. Search the forums. 10k will go quickly.

I'd like to keep the 6 cylinder. I'm looking at ways to make this thing more of a reliable daily driver. I'd like to lift it and put 33" - 35" tires on....do you know what gear ratio would be the most fuel friendly for this size tire. Also, is the Wagoneer 44 a direct bolt up replacement or does it need modifying?

also have thought about adding fuel injection rather than the carburetor...any suggestions on that?
