Lights look sick! I fixed my problems with my PIAAs, and got the fogs instaled on my Crawler Caps today... Looks pretty sweet! Love how they are close in to the grill / winch - much more protected than how they were on my old Warn bumper...

I'm itching to get out wheeling. Crozet is going doing something on the 20th, I think......

After I broke my Jeep, I called up Keith... Turned out he had a spare, so he came out and helped my buddy and me swap it out. Jeep drives great now, and next time I won't reverse hard in 4wd with my wheel cranked to the side... Lesson learned.

Keith, you are my savior. I owe you man, thanks a lot!

Glad your Jeep is back to optimal condition. Doin that can put a lot of stress on the drive train.

That was fun .... and about the last thing I thought I would be doing on a monday night! I said it would take 15... ended up taking about 25 because of the ujoint / ears flailing against the 12 point bolts holding the hub. they were mashed... nothing a file and some pounding on a socket couldnt fix!

pics tomorrow

Yeah thats what i was told so I decided against it. I just hooked the strap to the shackles on my rear bumper, put it in 4lo and had it in 3rd and slowly snatched the truck out.

I learned yet another new thing today. I have never heard of that before. At least looking back all of my pulls have been forwards, I don't have front recovery gear anyways.

All ive got is the factory hooks on the front bumper, only done one backwards pull and that was for my 380lb ATV that got stuck in river mud...so I dont think there was too much stress on the diffs with that one lol

Thinking about this, it's actually a GREAT bit of practice to do this in your driveway sometime so that you're not doing it for the first time on the trail. Having swapped out my shafts for chromolys / helped out on a trail, it was pretty straightforward. You never know when / where you are going to get stuck, and even if you don't have a spare with you, you CAN still drive after breaking a shaft. You'll have to remove the inner (hence that it's good to practice somewhere nice and lit / comfortable)... but you can then use the outer assuming it's not mangled in such a way to have clearance problems. Oh, and make sure you have a 36MM socket!

Hi-Lifted up, ready to go...

Hammering a socket on to a filed down bolt... with a wrench That's me in the hat!

Socket's on!

Hi-Lift handle turns into a GREAT breaker - slid it over the socket wrench.

Pulling the hub - came off right easy...

Broken Shaft!

Almost done!

I don't know how you could do that in the snow with those gloves. You should have gone to the nearest dollar store and picked up a set of those disposable cotton gloves. They keep the fingers warmer.
