Hope you all are doing well.
I decided to start a build thread for my newest Jeep, even though I don't have all of my parts just yet...
I drove a '99 TJ for 5 years. All black, 3 inch OME springs, Bilstein 5100s, Ramsey 9500lb winch, 33s on 18 inch rims and 3.07s...
, a drop CJ tailgate, stinger, and some other stuff. Needless to say, it needed work, but I loved it all the same. Plus, it was clean as a whistle. Sold it for $10k with 114k miles and kept the hardtop, so the buyer could purchase it for cheaper. I was going to patiently wait for the right Jeep to pop up..but I ended up buying my sweet little LJ 3 WHOLE LONG
Bought it from a 65 year old retired guy who REALLY
liked cleaning his cars and garage. Had 67k miles and very regular maintenance. Obviously, I was confident buying it from someone like that! The LJ in question: (Will add pictures when I'm at a different computer) 70k miles now All stock 42RLE Auto Trans Nothing extraordinary or odd about it - stock LP30/D44 with 3.73s. The previous owner installed a TB spacer and said something about a Performance Chip which I have yet to find, so that I may remove it. Not sure what or where to look for, but if anyone can steer me the right way on uninstallation of the chip, I'd be grateful. The TB spacer can stay because it isn't hurting or helping anything. This LJ will be my daily driver first and toy second. Myself and it reside in central Iowa, so wheeling or anything more major than dirt roads will be rare...
Therefore, I will come right out and say I am building for both looks and function.
I realize 42RLE+4.88s+35s is not optimal, but it's what I want to do, and I'm more than willing to drive it that way. I am not going to build junk, but LJs just look so good
on 35s... Current Plans:
- 35x12.50R15 Goodyear MTR/Ks - ordered
- 15x8 American Racing AR-61s - ordered
- Yukon 4.88 gears - received
- Zone 4.25 inch combo - ordered
- Metalcloak Duroflex Arms
- Currie Currectlync Steering - already own
- Need a front track bar, but undecided on which
Other stuff will have to come later. I will probably bounce for Black Magic brakes after awhile, but I currently only go about 55mph everywhere anyway. Pics of the LJ in question:
