Before my TJ I had an '09 Volkswagen GTI. I really wish it had been a manual. It was so sweet. Paddle shifters were fun though.

Volkswagen is one brand I'd never touch, everyone I know that has had one has had electrical problems. I did have a friend with an '03? 20th Anniversary GTI yellow 6spd and it had problems too, fun little car though. I'm not really a fan of paddle shiffters either, if any of your friends have stick you should have them teach you.

I learned to drive stick at a jeep dealership actually, but neither of my parents have a stick so I can't practice lol.

Rewired the CB so it actually gets power now, I tried to keep the install clean but I goofed and left ~5"s of black/red wire showing on the front side of my dash. It was supposed to go under the panel below the steering wheel but I messed up, oh well doesn't look bad. I cut a hole in the plug at the firewall to allow the wires to go through them w/o leaving a big hole to let water in.

Found a good deal on some synthetic winch line so I may go ahead and buy that now and just hang on to it for a while. 80' of 3/8" synth for $170 shipped.

Well the run today was a bust, got there late because of work and then it started raining. Got so much rain here that the steep hills were too muddy and slick to safely continue so we called it a day. I did how ever win a small cheapo tool bag and a car care kit (wax, blah, blah, blah) at dinner with their raffle prizes. Was hoping for a winch, but oh well.

Noticed my brake lights aren't working, my turn/hazards and reverse work but no brake lights for some reason.

Edit: just a fuse

Anyone know the going rates of a Dana 44? I found one w/ 3.73 so I wouldn't need to re-gear yet for $1000 delivered to my door.

Yea should be ready to bolt in, it's priced at $750 OBO w/ $280 freight. So I was gonna offer to make it flat $1000. Do you think it's better to get this D44 and regear/locker later, or get an 8.8 w/ locker from ECGS?

I've decided on the 44 over the 8.8.

For what reasons? I had been thinking 44 for simplicity sake.

Simplicity, cheaper since I can't weld, same width since I'm OCD, and it'll be better whenever I sell the jeep because people would rather see a 44 than a ford axle.

So it's $700 because it's from a friend right? I haven't looked too much in the past but I've heard avg price is $900-1300 on D44s.
