Cool beans I think I might go for it. Won't be able to bolt it in though because D44s have a forged yoke or something meaning my driveshaft won't match up with it correct? So then I'll have to save up for a new DS and CAs asap.

As long as it is from a 97-06 wrangler, it should bolt right in

Well I won! I offered $716.32 and the freight was $283.68 for a grand total of $1000. Might have paid a tad high but I'm just excited to have a D44 coming my way.

I'm pretty excited about it, I'm going to try to get it in over Christmas break. Reusing the stock arms and driveshaft if I can. Then I'll be saving up for MC arms and an Adams DS.

$1000 shipped is a good deal. It will have a 1310 ujoint yoke and therefore bolt right in. Gears and locker will be a few bucks but it is what it is. What is the going rate in your area for a gear set up? I had a local shop do mine, the owner is a big Jeep nut, for $100. He charges $150 if the axle is still on the vehicle. I have seen rates as high as $500/axle though. Which is nuts IMO.

Lockers/re-gear are a ways off for me. There is a local shop that a local club back in Fort Worth is a huge fan, and there is a guy that does it in his garage that really knows what he's doing. I haven't looked into prices. Re-gear consists of changing the ring & pinion right? Meaning I should still be able to use the Aussie I have up front?

Edit: I got a quote from the shop and they said $2400 for Front/rear R&P, Detroit softlocker D44, new carrier D30, gear oil, and labor. But as far as I understand it the carrier brake is at 3.73 so I shouldn't need a new one for it right? I do have the Aussie lunchbox in the D30 too. Will be a re-gear to 4.56

You should be good to go what is your current gearing? I dont believe the aussie locker is effected by the carrier size, only the spine count I think.

You'll be good. I had 3.73s and went to 4.88s with no need to replace my Aussie locker

Alright sweet, with the 32RH and plans for 35s my re-gear will be 4.56 + Detroit rear eventually.

Typically if carrier size matters it is 3.73 and up or below 3.73 so sounds like you're set either way. I have 35s and 4.56s and it is perfect IMO. Loved the gearing off road with 33s but on highway at 70 I was at 3k rpm. That is with 6 speed and 241 tcase though.

Meaning the 33s and 241 were nice off road. (Before someone chimes in and says "what does your 241 have to do with highway rpm?")

Mom said the D44 arrived today, might go home in a week or two to take a look at it. Plan is to install over Christmas break.
