Installed the headers and ran into a problem with one of the holes in the block. Taped it, but it was to far gone. Guess I'll helicoil it next week. Used the paper gaskets for now till I get copper ones.

Got the stripped hole Helicoiled today. Got nice and tight and hopefully it will stay that way.

For those that read Peterson's 4 Wheel & Off-Road, I'm going to submit this picture for the upcoming "your project trucks" section. Hopefully it will make the cut Put all the parts on for the pic and now I really want it finished!

It's been a couple weeks, hows it coming? LOVE this project. Wish I lived a little closer I'd be over every week.

I've been sitting in my shop and looking at it quite a bit Get a little down here and there but nothing really worth posting about. Paid my property taxes and waiting to hear from my accountant on how much I owe the IRS so can't spend to much money on it right now. Next week I'm going to try and do new cap, rotor, wires, plugs and get the carb hooked up.

Your welcome over anytime. Been meaning to ask, how did the axles work for ya?

They are working out well and cleaned up nice. The front has a little too much play and makes a clanging sound when I go over a bump, but other than that everything is wonderful. I can use 4th and 5th gear again. 3.54s work well, I think a 3.73 would be ideal since it's a daily driver. But that will have to wait until I'm ready to do lockers and 1 piece axles.

During:

After:

It turned out to be an expensive swap but well worth the money and effort. I put new stainless brake lines on, turned rotors and drums, rebuilt calipers and wheel cylinders, new bearings, all the bushings, sway bar links, stabilizer, all the bolts, leaf springs, greasable shackles, 1" body lift, and on and on..

Your project and fab skills are an inspiration to all us newbie jeepers! I want to learn to weld damn it! I'm talking to a guy over on tbaja about helping me fab up some sliders using your design. I asked Johnny if he had any more of that landing mat stuff too!

Glad they are working for ya and it looks nice cleaned up

If Johnny can't get anymore of the matting let me know, I think there is enough left over to make another set. I'll have to dig it up and look.

Got the new dist. cap, rotor, plugs in. Reused the old wires for now, going to get some orange ones later. Also put some oil in and a new filter on. Called about a starter this morning and found a new one for cheap. Maybe next week I'll pick it up.
