Budget sbc YJ build in two weeks
Well this is my first post on here so i figured if i was going to break the silence, go big or go home... I'm a Jeep nut and also crazy about Chevrolet so the only right thing to do was bring them together. Lol. But this one started out as a tired 2.5L with the crap ax5 and stock np231 21 spline. Drove it til the motor had enough of the 55 mile one way daily trips.
Day one, I bought a 80's model 350 4 bolt main from a Corvette $800. Totally rebuilt top to bottom on someone else's dime before i bought it. Never even run since rebuild. Then when i got home pulled most of the front clip off to ease the process and i want to clean up the firewall anyway.
Day two, unhooked the wires labeling them just in case, unhooked the exhaust, drive shafts, and unbolted the motor mounts.
Day three pulled the motor and had it sold before it hit the ground. Kept my t-case to do the front half Chevy np233 split rather than buying the ridiculous 500+$ adapter. Also ordered a transmission to my specs from a local builder $850 700r4.
During these three days so far I ordered off ebay the aluminum radiator for the conversion $170, front half of a Chevy np233 $16, and bought a Holley 650cfm carb $100, headers for an s10 small block conversion $50, lokar shifter $100, and bought new plugs and wires just because.
I'll post pics of the process soon when i figure out how to make them smaller for the forum limit. I'm delayed a day waiting on the transmission.
Keep it Jeep
