#2, I've discovered why I'm not content with the torque output of the 3.6. the rubicon needs to come with 4.56 gears to match to the TJ's final drive with tire equivalencies. the 32's on my jeep measure a tad over 32" (tape verified) and the "31's" that came on the TJ rubis were pretty close to 30" tall. so right there is the variance.

i came to this conclusion after i heard someone complain that first gear was too high, and second gear was too low. so they wanted to move to 35's and not regear. and I've came to the conclusion that for me to be happy - first gear needs to be completely and absolutely worthless for anything but being offroad. just like my TJ

so, if I'm not mistaken - and I've looked - i'll be the first person to run 37's, 5.38's and a 3.6. they all say I'm crazy - i say they're stupid.

beer me 5.

oh yeah, 2nd plug for fatboys. they're the ****.
I think it's funny how you own a JK less than a month and think you know everything. While I agree that most of the JK threads are useless and posted by tire kickers why bring it up, it just harbors bad feelings.

And why 5.38s? Am I missing something? Is this about the power lag thing again or just lack of all around power? Not knockin, just checkin so I learn something.

I don't think time owned means anything here. I don't even own a JK and after looking at the transmission ratios and torque curve and running the numbers, I agree with his conclusion. Numbers don't lie.

We could have told you that or any other knowledgeable TJ owner for that matter. 90% of JK owners up here in Pa are women. Enough said.

Why did you go back to the fat boy 1 series? Were you having problems with the 2 series?

They were sitting in my closet available to me, instead of dropping 70 bucks to get a new set shipped to me

I really like the series 2, they'll have to wait though.

This is probably the best response I've ever gotten from you when you disagreed with me. Thanks.

As for spyder you still did not answer my question and just knocked my menial math skills.

sorry, i was irritated and glazed over it.

my desire for the 5.38's is this. I've noticed time and time again people in the JK forum feel that they have to start in first gear. i don't like that. first gear in my TJ was completely useless for anything other than offroad. it was a super deep granny gear, and i really liked that.

i noticed the other day that when i was creeping up a hill in 4 high the engine was on the verge of stalling out simply because it could not manage. first gear is too tall. i want my motor to tach out in first gear at around 25mph.

for '12 Jeep also changed the 6th gear in the manuals to a lower ratio. at 70mph i churn 2480 RPM. id be happy with around 2800-2900RPM. that would put me right where i want to be for all my ratios, and set me up perfect for 40s if i ever get there.
