well, i discovered something today...

i was talking to my mechanic about how i didn't feel that the 3.6 didn't have enough off idle ***. he asked me how much gas i had left in my tank and i said the light was on, maybe 2 gallons left. he told me to swing by the gas station when i left and to fill up with premium. he claimed that the 3.6, while it doesn't need it - is designed to run on premium to attain the advertised fuel milage numbers and best emissions.

i tried it.

after i drove about 5 miles is when i noticed it at the light. i swear it was like i was driving my 4.0 again. the throttle lag is still awful, but it rumbles away right off idle with no effort. so, I'm a believer.

Yep, Blaine told me about the RJ70 a while back. They are for the people breaking **** on 42's. In Blaine's words, "the jump from 40's to 42's is like going from 35's to 40's" in terms of breakage I suppose.

DO IT. The RJ70 is BEEEEEEF.

to start with, 37x12.50x17 MTR's on black walker evan's beadlocks. hopefully by the time i wear the 37's out i'll be ready to step up to 40's. IE, some form of VW sitting in my garage. and yeah. Black Blue and Silver color pallet. should call it Bruiser

i remember Blaine mentioning to me about a year and a half ago that he was working with John to bring something to the market for the guys who run 42s because the 60 ring gear was going to be an issue.

i already had my heart set on a rear RJ60 with the 40 spline shaft option just because the JK's are so long that the leverage being placed on the rear axle when that front end comes up in the air. seemed like a good idea, even if i only maxed out at 40". but this seems like a complete no brainer to just go ahead and get an 10.5" ring gear and call it a day. plus its got 3.5" tubes with 1/2" wall, and when you get the 5.38 gear set you move up to a 35 spline pinion.

i called Currie today and they said they'll have them ready for JK's with tone rings and all that jazz around June. looks like i'll be one of their first orders. i doubt the price variance will be much at all.

other news: goodbye trucklites.

Word to the wise: when you find something awesome - dont try to one up it.

Super J beam bulbs are good, but there is nothing like a set of Fatboy 2s
