Being that funds are tight right now, I'm trying to do little things to the Jeep that satisfy my need to mod and is kind to my pocket book. I was checking things out under the hood yesterday before my little adventure and ran across a cracked vacume hose at the back of the valve cover going to the intake manifold. There was a fair amount of oil blow by on the valve cover, so I cleaned it up, pulled the line and put some heat shrink tubing on the cracked portion for a temporary fix until I can order a new one.
Think the next small project will be to clean up the door entry area. Think I'll finally pull the headlight rings and paint them to get rid of the last bit of shiny.
Here's that pesky vacuum line I had to patch up to termporarily. Called the dealer. $8 for a new line and $6 for the elbow. Figured I'd replace them both. You can see in the second photo where I put some heat shring tubing on the cracked portion of the line. It's holding for now.
Well, you know how they say problems come in 3's. First was the clutch master, then the CCV vacuum line, now on the way home, when I turned on the headlights the highbeam indicator on the dash would not turn off. The driver side headlight was very dim and the passenger side was fine. WTF!
