Getting back on track here. Who would be the best vendor to get a B&M short throw shifter? I was thinking Summit Racing, but if anyone has other ideas? Wanna drop some hints to the wife what to get me for a Father's day gift. She always gives me a bad time when she drives the Jeep that it's like shifting a semi-truck, so I think it would be an easy sell!

I've never seen one listed for 03-06 TJs, I'm guessing it may take some bending to fit correctly? Wonder what the differences would be? They make one for the NVG3550, but list it 99-02?

I had one in my CJ, makes a world of difference.

I called Summit's tech line and they said the B&M # 45048 will fit up to 03. The one on Quadratec says it fits 99-01, so confusion sets in! I doubt there were any differences between the NV3550 on the 02-03 models, but don't know for sure.

Nice Jeep...Im liking your build thread so far

Im interested to hear about how your short throw works out. Ive always liked the idea of one, its just not in the budget right now

I vote for 33's too. Dont wanna be stuck waiting for those to wear down as well!

A jeep buddy of mine has one in his 98 with the AX-15 and loves it. I got a chance to drive his rig and it is a must have for me! He has some build plans of his own. His rig sits on stock suspension with 30X9.50 A/T's. He has the AR on the front and I wanted to get a feel for how it felt on the road. Kind of an unfair test though since he's on wore out stock suspension.

How was it? I have a worn out 2.5" lift, so should be fairly comparable haha

Wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. His is set on the first hole. You get a little more sway on hard turns above 30 mph, but not out of control in the least. It really shined cruising thru town making slow, sharp turns off of stop signs, corners and such. Much more comfortable for in town driving. For DD duty with good suspension and maybe setting on the second or third hole, it's a no brainer for me. Soon as I can afford one, I'm ditching my JKS quick discos for the AR.

Gonna work on a little storage idea. It will involve a small ammo box I inherited. Nutserts will be involved.

TJs could definitely use some more storage, I've got 2 duffels with tools just crammed into the back lol

Yep, me too. Got a small Craftsman bag with tools under the passenger seat and a small backpack with other junk under the driver seat. This ammo can I have will fit my winch controler, some gloves, my Currie deflator an maybe a couple of D-rings. Not a lot, but it will make it easier to get to em. I sand blasted the ammo can at work and applied a coat of Rustmort primer on it. I will line the inside with some ozite carpet and drill two holes in the side for mounting to the inside of the tailgate. A couple of nutserts on the inside of the gate will secure it. Yeah, it sounds kinda stupid, but hey, at least it's something cheap I can do to my heep!

Ammo box is painted up.

Mounting holes drilled out. The foam strip is to keep rattling at bay.

Mostly what I'll be stuffing in there.

Gotta install the nutserts still. Not real exciting, but a fun little project none the less.
