Hello  I have had my Jeep for about a year now and have been upgrading it here and there along the way so I figured it was time for a build thread.

My Brother and Cousin both got CJ's a couple short years back and I wanted in on the fun so i started the search. I found a 98 Sport here on jeepforum for sale fairly close to me in Louisiana. I purchased it right around new years. It had a 4 inch pro comp lift, pro comp bumpers, rugged ridge rocker gaurds, and a few other items.
Here it is the day i bought it:

I literally just dumbly stared at the two axles for about 5 minutes when we unloaded them. Then I started to wonder what I got meself into lol. Long road ahead and I'll be gone most of the next 4 weeks, but Im excited.

Next on the list is to get the brakes in order. I plan on removing the ABS system which will entail running new brake lines. I bought the pre-bent kit from Crown. I also picked up a Dodge 2500 master cylinder.

A little progress. Not much... But I got the old axles out. They treated me well for a few years. They should make someone else's jeep happy now. Started cutting brackets off the rear. My plan is to attack the rear first. The rest of my coilover brackets should show up today. They will be frenched into the frame like you normally see. Once I get the rest of the brackets removed, I will begin mocking things up.

Mounted up the driver's side corner blank today. Everything went well until I cross threaded one of the riv-nuts and it started spinning in the hole. At that point I had to smash the outside portion of it with pliers and push it into the tub. I will try to remove it out of the tub with a magnet and then install a new riv-nut. Still waiting on a few more brackets for the rear links to mock all of that up.

Yeah I knew I could do that, but I actually think the rib-nuts are nice once installed. This is the first one that gave me trouble. I was able to fish it out with a telescoping magnet. I will try to install another one there, and if I have trouble I'll just bolt it through.

Awesome! Looking forward to the progress.
Me too lol! It's slow, but I try to knock out a little bit every couple of days. I'm going to do the rear first, then the front. I ordered Synergy brackets for the rear links and they won't be in stock until august :thumb down: so I canceled that and ordered the same ones from Genright. I decided not to do the double triangulated 4-link. The pace this build is going, it will be less fab and figuring for me. As for the front, I ordered the TNT front stretch kit, but I'm going to modify my frame and get another 2-3" of front stretch for a total of 5".

Target is somewhere around 103" as well. I have a purejeep gas tank for 5" stretch. I am not totally sure how much I will actually be able to go back with the Rockjock. I have heard only 4.5" with the comparable genright tank. I purchased the TNT front stretch kit, but have a plan to modify the frame and get the box another ~3". Basically, if I'm not under thinking this, I will just cut and add box tubing where it flattens out toward the front. I already purchased a 6" steering shaft to replace the 4" one that comes with the TNT kit. I will mount the box wherever that longer 6" shaft lands it which I'm guessing should be another couple of inches. Hoping for 5" front stretch. So 9.5"-10" total.

Yeah not sure on the Dana 60 since the diff is centered. The 14b is offset as is the genright comp tank but the diff is huge so hopefully I won't lose any of my current rear WB. Does your tank have a notch like the genright tank? Loving your build. I'd be there but damn Powerstroke killed me this year lol

Haha thanks man. Do you have a build thread? I would love to see what you've got going. The tank does have a notch. It's basically a ripoff of the Genright. I wish I had gotten the Alien tank instead of this one, but oh well. The D60 is centered, but the Rockjock is a high pinion so the chunk is rotated and sticks out rearward of the tubes slightly more than a standard 60. My plan is to build with what I've got and measure the wheelbase later lol.

I wish my build was faster but I'm doing this all myself and only get out to my shop a couple times a week for a few hours. Will be trying to step on the gas though.
